Hi, first of all i agree with you about 'Rational Life' its hidden gem, i rewatched it recently for its anniversary.. Amazing series, one of my favs.
As for your questions, there's progress between the leads, mc knows that he's already in love with her, as for the fmc she cares a lot about him and puts him first (she doesn't realise her feelings yet)
As for triangles: Coach Wu likes fmc and mc knows it early on and they have their 'little fun rivarly' but the coach already sees that fmc falling for the boy.
Then you have Shin Yin, who always wants to be near mc and trying everything to stay closer, luckily mc does not care about her whatsoever (She doesn't have alot of screen time, which is very nice).
Both leads are mature but can be also childish, their chemistry is on point.
I'm sure you will like it, altho it might take few episodes to get used to quality.
And by looking at the intro/outros of the show, it looks it's going to be steamy and very fulfilling romance between leads.

FL doesn't like ex husband at all, she only tries to get along with him cause of her son, its the husband that still has some feelings towards her (later on trying to use their son as a bargaining chip so she would sell the companies share)
once ML and FL gets together they have a really strong relationship, so you can watch without worrying. (Their chemistry is amazing too)

Oh yes cause something with unique setting as this is as boring/more boring than modern copy and repeat shit we get.
But as you said, can't judge it so early on, i'm enjoying it so are a lot of people, hopefully it won't go downhill.

I think it was filmed after the first Covid breakthrough or pretty much cause of it.

Totally agree, i loved him in love designer, i was expecting something close to that, but the whole covid just put majority of the shows plot into shithole.

They never really started dating lol, they just got officially together in the very last episode, where they hugged and got engaged at the very end of the episode.
No kissing scenes either, f0ck covid :/

it's still a good drama tho, the second male lead is her ex boyfriend apparently, the triangle really comes into play in the last ~10 episodes, but she said few times in the show that she only sees him as a friend and nothing is going to change it.

So i finished ep29 today and as of now:
ML friend, is still a little bit obssesed with qian qian (FL friend), but the waitress at his restaurant/pub is into him and shes starting to slowly express it.
FL friend (Qian Qian), so she was briefly dating with ML father, but they broke up because she found out that he doesn't want to marry her, in episode 29th, she wrote a message that she missed him so i guess they will get back together soon enough.
