It seems more common in my experience that young actors occupy roles that would be better suited to more mature actors. It's rare to get mature actors as main leads, however... the practice of using an adult actor to play a teen is almost always a bad idea imo. They should use more child and teen actors for younger versions of the adult actors as I see it, then we wouldn't get that ridiculous immature acting from older actors.

It's not a typical C drama with a ML and a SML, you could say they take turns. 😉 This isn't fiction per se, these are real historical characters.

Makes me sad when good actors get dragged down by everything else. Deng Lun and Li Yitong could be great.

But this is historical fantasy...! Hmm, we'll have to see. I haven't read the book, so I don't know. I actually object to sad endings with long dramas. A film can have a sad ending because you just spend 2-3 hours watching it, but with a 50 episode drama, a sad ending can be really draining... But I would say C dramas 8/10 have happy endings.

Maybe we could get both in equal measure and then I'll be happy too!

Spot on, Xu Kai created all the chemistry in Falling into your smile. In ALP, it is equal from both sides. FIYS is like bubblegum compared to ALP, sweet but with zero nutritional content. ALP is food for the soul. Plus, FL for Falling into your smile was like a doll, a pretty face with nothing behind it. No range, no expressions... Totally flat. Just shows, for many viewers and producers, looks matter more than skills. Sad.

Love and Destiny is in my top 3! Such a wonderful drama with great actors. Also... Eternal Love of Dream should be up there too imo...!

Totally, I think at the end, if she had come back Tianqi would have cherished her... I don't understand why they never unsealed her soul from the statue?

What a cast! Nie Yuan and Chen Kun? That I want to see. If Chen Kun could give us another Ning Yi, and Nie Yuan another Lu Buwei (or characters of that calibre)... That would really be something.

Eternal Love (10 Miles of Peach Blossom) and Legend of Fuyao are epic Yang Mi dramas. I recommend them!

Ah, thanks for the tip, but I'm not keen on Zhao Lusi dramas unfortunately... I would rather see him with a more serious/mature FL personally. I would like to see if he's up to the task for a "heavier" drama.

Let's put it like this, it has its flaws, but in other ways it's very good. It has a very unique "look" (costumes/production). It deals with a lot of difficult topics like abusive relationships. Many people don't like it because the main characters are flawed. (Probably a similar reason why this drama has a low score too!) They prefer happy, fluffy Disney stuff. The King's Woman is quite dark at times, in a similar way to this drama. It's kind of half wuxia half historical palace drama. It also doesn't have a happy ending, which a lot of viewers don't like. I think it's well worth a watch, just don't expect Disney. Anyway, you can give it a go! See what you think. I haven't watched it in a long time.

Generally, C dramas aren't as natural and authentic feeling as this one.

It's just so wholesome too... Minglan's chats with her grandmother especially. Very wise.
