I'm on episode 13 but I'm a bit disappointed that we're not seeing more of the ML's martial arts abilities, or the ML getting in situations that show he's not from this era. Instead it's just like he's a normal person from this era. I thought he'd be more unique compared to other characters. If i didn't know the genre I'd never believe it's a fantasy drama.

Yes in kdrama standards she's below average, and that's why women preferred her story. Not because of their interactions together, but because a below average woman got the hot guy. Their arc wasn't more interesting because John changed his perspective, the FL also changed her perspective for the ML, why didn't you mention that? There was hardly any screen time between John and Ji Wan and yet they want me to think their scenes were better than the main couple? God no. What's wrong with the main couple? He's been in love her the whole time, they've both had trauma to overcome, she realised her feelings for him, they had great kiss scenes and they ended up together for a happy ending. What a great story. How is that inferior to a couple that only had a few scenes together? Let's not forget John was infatuated with the other girl right up until the last couple of episodes. I'm not buying that the reason people believe John and Ji Wan were better was because of their romance and interactions, they preferred the second couple because they relate to Ji Wan, or preferred watching a below average woman get the hot guy. It's as simple as that.

How is it so far? No spoilers because I'm waiting for it to finish airing before I start watching. In the beginning of episode 1 did they show a recap of season 1 to remind us what happened?

Your whole first paragraph just proves my point that the reason the second couple were preferred was because a plus sized below average female character managed to successfully attract a hot guy. The fact is if Ji Wan was thin and above average beautiful i guarantee they wouldn't have had anywhere near the amount of attention they are receiving. As i mentioned before, John and Ji Wan had no where near enough screen time to warrant a comparison to the main couple. I'm not explaining my self again, it's common sense.

I actually didn't skip anything because there was so much going on i didn't want to miss anything important. It's simply just boring, not enough romance, too much politics and too much mystery. The balance isn't right. Maybe season 2 will be better. But that's why season 1 was boring because it has 2 parts, so it's such a long drama. Season 1 is getting to know everyone and building the story.
