i think the family dynamic is still very special in this drama. i don't think they have taken away that part at all, it's presented slightly differently but beautifully.
Maybe it's because I already watched the original that I could care less about the family issue and got more invested…
oh this was beautifully phrased 🥹 idk but i'm a sucker for romances where a character is the light in the life of the other haha. it's so pure to watch.
They did not give San Ha’s appa any personality. The original C version developed both fathers and their relationships…
i think it's deliberate. sanha's father is more distant in this version, or less expressive. it adds a new dimension to his character. and we are getting his character development in ep6 where he opens up to his son gradually. plus this eliminates the weird angle when it comes to the romance between the two, they are children of close neighbours/friends like you said not necessarily brought up by two dads. the main focus is slightly diff between the two versions imo. meaning to say the focus is more on the kids and their growth.
but the wider idea still stands imo, that they are a family that has found eachother, since family isn't confined to a single definition.
A masterclass in great script writing. There are no plot holes in the script and the pacing was perfect. Personally…
afaik no not really a hit in Korea atleast ratings wise. kinda like true beauty ig where it was huge internationally but not so much in sk. I'm not sure about the good data rankings or buzz but youth dramas usually don't get high tv ratings in general, especially for mon-tues slots.
haha I'm just curious can you elaborate a bit why tho? because i thought the representation was pretty accurate for fans of popular boy bands and artists in general? not just kpop, even older western hip hop pop music bands etc?
huhu I'm so excited for the romance to start. like slow burn and angst is sooo delicious. i was already kicking my feet in the air at the lil sticky notes and the lighthouse scene 🥹
i keep coming back to sanha's scene in ep6 at dinner. the feels omg. so relatable exactly how it feels after a hard day to come sit at dinner with your fam🥺 no judgements, some jokes to make you laugh and pure acceptance.
Okay, saying she wasted her talent in the past few years is a huge exaggeration. Unless you're a chungmuro star…
how has her career gone down? her last drama Welcome to Samdalri got double digits in ratings and was popular on Netflix as well. SYIMNL was popular overseas and had a lot of buzz despite the mixed reactions.
I posted a long rant on this drama, indeed it is a conversation starter lol! I am not sure if I agree with guilt…
all really valid points. thanks for that perspective 😊 it does seem he has been butting in her business all along, and not allowing her to move on. even then 4 yrs is a long time, it's as sad as it is infuriating.
and as much as I am upset with the writer, this drama page has had some of the best discussions on MDL lol.
Why is no one one complaining about the lack of logic in this show ? I am not talking about the mom buy everyone…
I think they will address that more clearly eventually. even now, sanha's dad has reiterated it multiple times it was their, the parents fault, not the kid's. he has called her weak and shut her down because she knows the truth but isn't ready to accept it. yoon appa and even sanha has called her out.
and she probably hasn't lived her best life either imo. she replaced the daughter but hasn't moved on a day from her daughter's death. i think that's a sad enough punishment, but we will get more atonement hopefully.
i also love sanha & haejun's bond so so much. they are teenagers with all of their teenage hot blood and occasional brooding and they are so realistically portrayed. but they aren't afraid to show their affection and defend and protect eachother. they do feel like real siblings and I love when tenderness is portrayed in boys/men's relationships because often in popular media it's quite the opposite.

also loved the innocence in haejun's line today "i didn't understand it before. how can i understand when i didn't know?"
it says a lot, often hurtful words come from a place of ignorance and lack of clarity, not apathy. a good advice or a snippet of life lesson is only realised when we are in the face of it. how else do you really understand something (a toxic family in haejun's case) when you have never seen one before?
Agree with you 100%. if you want the same old version, then what is the need for a director and producer and the…
and like what even is the point of complaining? their favorite drama hasn't gone extinct when the kdrama dropped lol. ppl can always rewatch if they love it so much. they are two different entities existing in completely different spaces.
but the wider idea still stands imo, that they are a family that has found eachother, since family isn't confined to a single definition.
