Ugh I agree peopleπ sometimesIf people don't like a show then that's fine. They can go ahead and talk about…
I respect that some people were hurt by the ratings bombing and feel like that was unjustified. I also agree with some people who think the writing/directing/acting have not been perfect. I personally don't think any show is perfect, but I still enjoy watching many series. I also think that people are allowed to like some aspects of the series while not liking others.
Since people are very emotional about their feelings towards the show right now, I think letting things calm down for a couple weeks is ideal. As I said in my post, I think Joong and Dunk are doing a good job.
if you dont like it post it for the ones that need your point of view...dont chickn out. i get some "mimimi" comments…
Seriously grow the hell up. I chose not say anything people could be hurt by because I didn't want to! But for some reason you think I don't like the show even though I spent an entire paragraph highlighting all the things I like about the show.
You don't get to tell me how or what to post! And your unwillingness to read what I actually wrote does not give you the right to come after me. Calling me names because I chose not to post how you wanted me to is not only obnoxious but also reinforces why people don't want to go through the hassle of posting their unfiltered options on a site that has been taken over by people who think their way of using a discussion board is the only correct way of using a discussion board. If you don't like my comment go read something else or block me!!!!!
Every single show doesn't require an agrument. I'm not engaging with you again so seriously STOP!
I usually point out the strengths and weaknesses that I see in a series when I post comments on MDL. But given the situation created by some unkind people in the last week, I'm going to only focus on the positives because in this case, I think fans of this show/these ships would be justified in labeling detractors if the series as "haters". Usually I think constructive criticism is appropriate and beneficial for any series, but this week it feels like that would be unnecessary.
I thought Joong and Dunk did a great job with their characters. I was highly entertained by all of their interactions and think both have grown in terms of acting abilities. I've seen their previous series and this is the first time I've actually enjoyed them together. I felt Fadel's bitterness and cold stares and Style is the best friend in the world. It's nice to see Dunk play a character who is shameless and funny. I'm looking forward to more from both of their characters as the story progresses.
The premise is really intriguing. This will air after gay marriage is finally legalized in Thailand, which is cool. I like that they're showing that marriage is a binding contract and that saying "I do" doesn't always result in happily ever after.
I'm also really glad Fluke got signed to GMMTV after everything he went through with his last series. I hope this one doesn't disappoint.
I'm not sure if I'll connect with a bromance, but at least it won't be queetbait. The trailer was one of the best from the GMMTV25 line up, I'll probably watch it.
Aww the new kids are adorable. The casting department put in some effort! Pod and Papang are always great and the plot looked sweet. I'm looking forward to this one.
I admit that I'm super biased because I love Phuwin, soap operas and gangster stories, but this was the most entertaining trailer from the GMMTV25 line up for me. I laughed a lot.
I feel kinda crazy writing this, but I think Joong and Dunk are improving. I thought they both did well in the trailer, especially compared to some of the other trailers.
Ohm and Earth have been my #1s since I started watching BL. I love them and Mix and Gawin. My Golden Blood was the only series I was excited about from the GMMTV24 line up. So I'm super excited to see them all together in one series. But this story is not for me. This one feels kinda bittersweet.
No, these days I can barely sit through a Thai BL. In 2024 I finished about 2/3 less Thai series than previous years. IMO they're on a steady and steep decline in terms of quality.
I spent years trying to decide if Thai BLs are my favs or JBLs. In recent years JBLs have stood out compared to TBLs. But 2024 completely my internal debate, Japanese BLs are everything to me!!!
Jin not being sure how to deal with his feelings, Haruki's seduction game being stronger than most grown men's, study aboard being shown as a hardship/problem instead of a plot device when the writers ran out of ideas, I love all of this πππππ. And popsicles have a different meaning now!
For me this is definitely the best series airing right now and I'm so glad there are 11 episodes!!
There was a time when I thought this was the best Thai BL of the year. And a time when I couldn't wait for new episodes. Then the EXTREMELY HIGH rating started to feel like a joke. After the ratings sabotage that happened over the last few days, I have completely given up on the MDL rating system. Anything that can be so easily manipulated isn't something I can waste my time thinking about. And since neither this show or the other series that was rating bombed are good, all I can do is roll my eyes at a fandom that made a mockery of itself.
With all the plot holes, missed opportunities, wasted time, extra loud music, cackling rich people, extremely long episodes, constant tonal shifts, and Joke's endless apologies, I'm left feeling the same thing I felt at the conclusion of Kidnap. GLAD IT'S OVER.
If this was marketed as a bromance or had a reasobable rating, this show would have been much less unpleasant to sit through for 12 long weeks. But it's over and Jack never had to apologize for all things he did. And most of the villains got away with it. But I won't act surprised by that one, because villains usually get away with it in Thai BLs. A world where actions rarely have consequences and the leads always get a happy ending. While the side characters get no resolution.
This is my last YinWar series. Part of me feels robbed that Tattoo and Arun never got together, but after all this time, if Prom and Mark wanted it to happen, it would have. They baited us and I'm over it. I could list all the ways the writing fell short, but the writers told the story they wanted and I can't be bothered to care about anything related to this series anymore.
The first 5 episodes were wonderful and I'm so glad GagaOOLala picked this series up. But I've become less and less invested in the series as it continues. Maybe I've seen too many Chinese BLs with an evil violently abusive dad and a mom who is MIA until it's time to break up the relationship because of "study aboard". Tan Yin pouting in every scene, the LOUD score, the lens flares that make my eyes hurt and the blurry backgrounds in almost every scene are just too much. I'm guessing the crew wanted to create a very artistic feeling, but it's sensory overload that feels like it's trying to mask a hollow script.
So many flashbacks and montages are robbing us of character development and getting to watch the bonds between the characters grow stronger. While I can accept that this story may not have a happy ending and appreciate that it shows the difficulties some gay kids experience, I want mode depth. The couples having basically the same conversation repeatedly, feels like a waste of time. And even though I never have an issue with BLs about step brothers falling in love because they aren't actually blood relatives, I think it's creepy to like a kid because he looks like your younger brother.
It's great to see a real Chinese BL again. Qi Lu, Qin Xiao and Tan Yin are likable. I'll finish the show and hope future Chinese BLs don't feel like retreads of older BLs.
