Yeh I think the novel says that Hua Yong's enigma scent is still orchid-like but much stronger and dominating but he modifies it to tone it down and make it much softer and "submissive" to be identified as an Omega

The novel says that Hua Yong does actually fall sick due to increasing the dose of his pheromone modifier that he uses often to make himself smell like an Omega. And yeh I think he says he did it coz he was angry that Sheng spent his rut with another Omega
