Iāve heard a few others express sympathy for the Mother here and to each their own but I find that inconceivable. I find her selfish and patronizing. I get that she is a pathetic character but I canāt empathize because she is always manipulating people. She is a classic narcissist and I also do not think that she is a good Mother. She may love Wang but that doesnāt redeem her in my eyes.

So, after 1.5 years, after the phenomenon known as KinnPorsche and several other worthy BLs, I have returned here during a lull. I can say this with worldwise confidence, ep 2 ranks in the top 4 most passionate, natural, engrossing, sexy and romantic scenes in BL history. Period.
I started this for Allen Ren. I do not usually like Li Qin. Was prepared to suffer her in this series. Somehow, at episode 10, I am enjoying her a lot. I like her swashbuckling style. Hoping Lu Yanās character evolves because while powerful, he just isnt very interesting. For now Iād say DengDeng and the side characters are definitely carrying the show.
On episode 3 and I have a question? Has there ever in the history of xianxia or Wuxia been a ML as lethally sexy as Li Hong Yi? I meanā¦my word. Iāve seen him in other things and thought he was cute but here heās soā¦.seductive.
They are both good for him though. I dont mind who he ends up with tbh!
I wasnāt thinking of them in terms of who is right for Hu. Both ladies have their own value and strengths beyond as a compliment to a male character. I admire Kung Fu ZiYi more, thatās all Iām saying.

I was prepared for her to be the lowlight of this show. Butā¦somehowā¦near the end of ep 1 I settled into her rakish, boorish character. I kinda like her. Anywayā¦I sure like xianxia mixed with republican era. Has a very steampunk vibe. I dig it.
