i appreciate that FL helf true to herself and made it clear that she didnt appreciate being abandoned by her mother and later ML. She would rather be alone and keep her love in her heart than let ML do as he wills without her input. ML regrets his actions and understand he cant force his way with her because he starts to truly understand her as a person. that was well done.
the pace was very slow though amd she spent alot of time building a romance with Yao. then it took forever to fall for ML but then they had like 3-4 eps of happiness before it all came crumbling down and we realized that everything ML wasnt necessarily for FL - he had hidden motives. The chem went offline and then they reunited at the last ep. that left me feeling somewhat unsatisfied.

I really appreciated seeing an empress and consort that weren’t constantly scheming and actually had a sisterhood. All the characters had a personality and reason for existing in the story - to help further the plot or OTP’s character development. The characters make mistakes and are acknowledge them and make an effort to change. Character flaws made it a little relatable. I wasn’t in love with the parts, but the sum of the parts came together- from the frustrating separations to the heartwarming memories.

I’m at ep 47…this show lost a lot of its charm around ep 44-45. ML and FL were getting closer but now the chemistry is gone. The pace and tone of the drama feels different too.

Slowburn is one thing, but I can’t when there are so many other men involved and FL gives them the time of day…and here, it’s more than time of day. I thought I would have to worry about SML…but TML?? IDK how FL and ML will even have an interactions with how sheltered (restricted) FL ultimately is and how busy ML is. When can I expect any romance between ML and FL? Even if it was slowburn but true OTP - something like Story of Minglan - I wouldn’t mind, but watching her develop a ship with one guy…the wrong guy 😂 🤦🏻♀️ 🤷🏻♀️
