The laughs continue 😆

This episode starts with everybody celebrating a very successful photo shoot. While Su Miao worked very hard to make this success and SCC is smiling because she was the contributor, nobody else is aware of this. SCC is not being celebrated by her work colleagues tho the pretense is made at the after work party. There is a humorous adventure of the best friends getting acquainted. 😂 this was second belly laugh because the battle over the car ride was well done. SCC finds herself left with TQ and her picking him up by the collar was hilarious. Their mutual disdain is made abundantly clear but the underlying attraction between them is palpable. This makes them resent each other even more. 😝 so while the besties are settling their travel disputes, SCC and TQ find themselves at his place. The unceremonial tossing him on the floor and crawling into his bed is very funny. She wakes up to discover they have literally slept together. đŸ˜±đŸ™„ she almost makes her escape but is not quite successful. She turns herself into Su Miao and tells him to eat a good breakfast. Now had she been thinking she would have recalled that Su Miao hadn’t gone to the party so what else could TQ assume when he sees her at the door. His friend’s response “You slept with a woman?!” is priceless The exchange in the elevator between TQ and SCC keeps the misunderstandings going. She notes her hair tie on his wrist and considers him shallow and he reminds her she smells like bbq. Her calling him scum makes me smile because he really does deserve it in his treatment of SCC. While they all are trying to sort their after party experiences SCC is trying to make amends with her colleagues. She is not received well when they hire her and she overhears their reaction as she is bringing in cakes and coffee. She exits and has a pity party with her best friend, but in this instance I am not feeling compassion. She did work her butt off as Su Miao, but SCC has done damn little to deserve an actual job hiring. So when the mean girl of the coworkers drops a boxful of files for her to go through SCC accepts her fate and digs in. She is working late and TQ finds her stuff at a desk and as a master of observation, he notes a hardworking person and that something isn’t adding up with the slacker she has appeared to be. At the end of the episode SCC is noting a bracelet glitch and things are taking a turn for the worse.

My very first review😄

I am a big fan of Tan Jian Ci and Li Landi. I think these two are hidden gems that are under rated and I wish them every future success. What I most love about this drama is that NONE of the young women use a fake little girl voice, a shrill annoying diatribe to force their opinion, or a fake overacted facial expression to overtly tell the viewer when it’s supposed to be funny. There is also no juvenile plunge on the bed face down beating the pillows lamenting life in general. THANK YOU. TQ’s character is interesting because he seems to be a bit on the spectrum and his comfort zone is collecting data. He looks at his friend’s phone and peruses the moments. TQ tells him exactly how many photos, male to female ratio and what makeup they use and to what degree filtered. This includes the men.đŸ€Ł He is super intelligent but not the most adept socially.SCC’s character was a full contact kickboxer. It is not clear why she no longer competes and her parents seem concerned that she is drifting with no specific goals. She has an older sis that’s the beautiful one. The sister dynamic is pretty spot on. It’s clear they love each other but the pretty one expects things to go her way. With her best friend’s assist with her picture in resume, SCC is hopeful that an interview will pan out to a job. The interview is far from successful but I love her handing that apple half to the interviewer. That made me smile. She heads to a park with a six pack and bumps into TQ on a bench. They don’t recognize each other and she starts reminiscing after a phone chat and tries to share a drink with TQ. He doesn’t respond verbally but does leave her two gifts.TQ and SCC went to the same school and vividly remember each other but from completely different views. SCC sees him as her perfect dream guy and he sees her as the scary athlete that bullied him. They have no idea how the other one actually feels and that is the scope of this drama. To see what happens when these two meet and actually communicate.SCC and TQ are gently bullied by friends to show up at a class reunion. SCC and best friend arrive and the first thing SCC does is see a guy needing help and she becomes stock crew helping him move cases of drinks. TQ is not doing well either because the guys sitting at his table are clearly underwhelmed by his employment status. SCC gets drafted to take a pic and is recognized as the sis of the “pretty” one. After answering why her sis couldn’t come she heads for the bar close to tears. Now when I saw her trick with the bottle cap I thought it was a pretty cool move and liked it. But once it turned into her being the trained seal performing for the amusement of the crowd, I found the whole situation off putting. This was how the less than meet cute was designed for TQ and SCC to become reacquainted. Now the interesting part is that the heartbeats were starting as he studied her face. This was abruptly ended when the contents exploded and soaked her.Trying to regroup by rubbing her face, her makeup is everywhere and he stops and studies her face very carefully. You can see his brain swirling trying to design fixes for the makeup. He asks for her picture and for whatever reason she complies. He continues to study it and she asked why he took a photo. His response of how bad she looked was the final straw and she abruptly leaves. As SCC is walking she passes a lady selling flowers and decides to purchase all of them. The lady sees her distress and gives her a bracelet as a thank you for the purchases. When she is not recognized by her parents as she walks by with the flowers she sees her reflection in a car window and is shocked. Life is about to become much more interesting.😆

Family betrayal

Fu already has ammo since he was told Chen specifically sent away XuanQing. Fu has figured something big went down between them and his smile says it all. 😝XuanQing is performing opera and is going even more psycho. Yao has been investigating and they are making progress investigating the sect. The hand signals are a quiet giveaway that they now recognize. They have traced back the funding to a name but not the who. QingLan has joined the party of wanting info about Chunyuan sect. They are responsible for killing her mother. Chen is speculating about Fu not knowing the real culprit is the wife. XuanQing has gone all out seeking Fu’s assist to stay in the capital having no clue what his parentage will cost him. His hatred of Chen runs deep and that is something he and Fu have in common. XuanQing is being forced to impeach his uncle by perjuring himself before the emperor and court. They beat his poor servant and know about the murder and his parentage. He looks like a little king with his chest puffed out claiming vindication over YanYun. Too bad he isn’t even impressing the empty chair.😝 YanYun refuses to defend himself because he has to maintain the reputation of his wife and family. Fu is all smug and pleased with himself and that little twerp nephew kept one page of JinZhao’s letter as evidence. So that one page from her is how he wove his little tale of self delusion. He really has no clue that he has just kicked to the curb the only person on the planet that could have helped him. Chen’s guard has reached JinZhao and she is riding as fast as she can to get back. QingLan has already had a chat with her aunt about the Chunyuan sect. Too bad she missed the prayer session. She knows her aunt is lying and they quietly assess each other. QingLan is going to protect Ye Xian and Ms Fu is going to try to keep her niece quiet. Looks like lots of family laundry is going to be aired. I am very relieved that this is a shift of plans already in place. The emperor was quite angry with Fu’s manipulations and quite aware of the situation except for XuanQing's hatred when he promoted him. He now knows how to handle things while Chen is dealing with the charges. XuanQing has moved on to the Ji house and treating them like captives. He wants Chen to beg or he will reveal whatever secrets are between the Ji’s and YanYun. I am hoping JinZhao’s dagger is not still poisoned. It looked like the one Ye Xian gave her. That slight cut could still be trouble. Nice whip work from YanYun. That insolant brat needs whipped. Fu has him completely deluded not realizing he will be squashed like the cockroach he is once no longer useful. This is building up to the final showdown between Chen and Fu. It is turning into a no holds barred fight where the best strategist wins the court. It’s no wonder that Ms Fu treats QingLan like a daughter since she seems to be instrumental in having her mother killed by the sect. The fight between these two will be on a par with YanYun and XuanQing.

Chunyuan sect and Chen’s promotion

Fu is not happy with Chen and makes it clear that Wang will be shielded. He insincerely tells Chen how important he is to the court and that he should rest. Wang is encouraged to pack up and go home and lay low. Fu looks like practicing for prison in his opera scene.😝They have a brick tossed with the Chunyuan sect symbol. Fu knows Wang can’t be investigated because half of the court will be found guilty. During the night he and wife died of carbon monoxide poisoning because of coal vapors and their servant was murdered. I find I callously don’t really care. Two troublemakers out of the way. 😝Ye Xian is called in to investigate. They learn that the servant was part of the Chunyuan sect. Fu thinks Chen will be home resting so he has the court all convinced Chen was responsible for their deaths and that it must be handled swiftly and without mercy. Chen surprises them by showing up and pointing the finger at Fu for hiding evidence against Wang and Fu counters by getting his own investigators ready to haul Chen out. The young Emperor is obviously out of his element here and is nervous on what to do. He is saved by YeXian showing up. They have marked the servant’s body with the Chunyuan sect symbol to put the blame on the sect. Fu falls into the trap and has to agree and sends Chen home to recuperate rather than prison like he’d planned. Fu’s connection with the sect is via his wife who told him that there would be no markings on the body because their sect forbade it. Fu now knows he’s been played but he already cast judgment. YeXian and Chen are called in to see the young emperor. He is pleased he snuck out, greets JinZhao and teases how his top two men were jealous over her.đŸ˜‚đŸ€Ł They take his teasing in stride because they know that both of them are the emperor’s only real defense against the court’s corrupted officials. Fu was originally idealistic but over time he became an ends justifies the means sort of official to expedite his agenda. He will have no issues misleading the young ruler and that is where these two are stepping in. The emperor has his mother agree to promote Chen and he becomes the Emperor’s guard. Fu wants to take 30% of military funds to pay of other projects and Chen disagrees in court. Chen and Ye Xian figure he is confident to take the funds because he has a spy network behind enemy lines. JinZhao is worried but he’d rather fight head on than have plots in the shadows. Chen has shown JinZhao the mecca of files on officials and Zhang did an excellent job of clearing most of them out for Fu. Fu didn’t count on his protege having photographic memory to still keep tabs on his misdeeds. JinZhao has sent her guard to Shanxi to work with Ping on learning more about the Chunyuan cult members. QingLan loves her stubborn man đŸ˜‚đŸ€ŁShe called the Chens out for involving him in their games. I agree with her but they have to work together to balance the power Fu yields. Things are moving up to the key players and it’s getting real with permanent consequences. This episode was all about taking the gloves off and battling head to head for control of the court. Ye Xian and Chen are in the two most precarious spots, right by the young emperor.

Truths revealed

XuanQing is all stirred up in his reinvention of past events. He has quite the scenario built in his head. He has twisted things to make YanYun look like the puppet master behind the scenes tricking JinZhao into marriage by denying her the great mighty XuanQing.😝🙄omg this little runt sure has a narcissistic streak.😝YanYun is about ready to cut his head off and I really wanna cheer him on but JinZhao made him stop. She knows this is blown out of proportion and things did not go to that degree in the past. YanYun believes her but seeks solitude. This was a misstep. She is half his age and needed assurance that her girl crush would be put in perspective to her true feelings. He should have been forthcoming about his rescue and she should have mentioned her past crush when dirtbag nephew came home. However, she had no reason to think he had any feelings for her at all once he failed to show at the bridge. There was no way she could have seen the twisted story in his head because it was so different from the preachy upright scholar she admired. On the political side, Wang knows he’s in trouble for the girl they killed. He is ready to get everybody in trouble and looking into Chen’s dealings in the canal and XuanQing. He is looking for any dirt with canal bandits
or any dirt at all. Guard and servant approach YanYun and inform him of Wang’s investigations so he follows up with a meeting with XuanQing. The nephew is acting the martyr all weak from self denial of meals. He appears most pitiful due to the scheming uncle that has it in for him. 🙄😡 YanYun sets him straight by telling him his engagement has been called off and he is being sent to the provinces — a great demotion for one who placed first in exams. However, there is reason. Wang is looking into XuanQing’s parentage and YanYun is trying to keep it out of the spotlight. His maneuvering of XuanQing’s location has dual benefits - distance from home and protection from Wang. WanXue is the most hurt from all this. Her engagement has been called off and she is experiencing what XuanQing claims, they are forcing her away from her true love. Here I wish JinZhao could have embraced her and shared her own past grief of losing her crush. She could have mentioned that XuanQing is unhinged from his delusions and needs time to grasp reality. That he will hurt her beyond repair if they marry now. Instead she is kinda bailing on her friend tho doing the right thing for her. The guard and servant chatting think YanYun is doing JinZhao a favor by sparing her. This shows their ignorance of JinZhao’s nature giving her the demeanor of most women her age. She is not a wilting violet and had every reason to believe that she and YanYun would face everything together in a united front. Currently she does not feel united with him because he is too busy carrying out his plans and protecting her as he sees fit. This is going to bite him in the ass because the last thing she wants is his distance and oversight. He really is ignorant in love matters. 😝🙄 She has sent him a signed and dated divorce decree that he definitely did not see coming. With this, she is reminding him that she is not at the convenience of his scheduling. They are either together through everything, or not. He needs to put up or shut up because here YanYun is wrong thinking his mastermind tactics are always correct. He thought it best for her to be on the back burner and she reminded him she is not that type of girl. She is woman enough even tho young to let him know that his place is by her side and if he doesn’t agree then she is better off solo. Damn this episode gives you whiplash.đŸ˜‚đŸ€ŁThis segues to the tea party at her restaurant and all the top ladies are showing up at the door. Ms Wang is doing her best to annoy and JinZhao is making things go well in spite of her. This changes when news arrives that YanYun had been ambushed and is injured. Ms Wang still isn’t prudent enough to just smirk and keep her mouth shut. She just has to go for one more dig and JinZhao slaps her following up with a pinch that if her husband comes to harm because of her she will pay with her life. Here she shows her mirror image of YeXian.đŸ‘đŸ»đŸ‘đŸ» She sees the doctor’s bowls dealing with his wounds as she enters. She is collapsing herself but gets to his side and he is too cold and unconscious. At the Wang house he denies trying to assassinate Chen but looks guilty as hell when he learns one of his miscreant spies is missing. What I wanna know is if Fu is so damn smart, why is this oaf his right hand man? 😝 hahaha this is usually man trick to shut up his woman 😝😝 funny to see the woman shut up the man by kissing. đŸ‘đŸ»đŸ˜‚ She is good at getting to the heart of the matter and realizes much better than him that love and reason don’t go hand in hand. So
.Chen is framing Wang and waiting to see the fallout from the ambush. He pushed things to the edge because he wanted to die after receiving divorce decree. They were just making up when Fu and doc show up. 🙄Wow. Fu’s empathy is đŸ€ŹThe doc just said the wound missed his heart by an inch and Fu’s like
good thing nothing serious. 😝😡 This politician for the people chided Chen for brooding about the grain swap and called him petty for caring for 100k people. đŸ€ŹđŸ€Źthe conversation shifts from assassination attempt to shoddy workmanship on canal borders. Right when he condemns Wang’s people for going too far Chen drops the other shoe that 9 were under his name while 6 were under Wang’s. That was quite a look Fu had when the episode ended. I think he was wanting to add to that wound on Chen’s chest and move it over. Things are heating up now and it’s going to be a wild ride to see how these politicians counter maneuver their own misdeeds. They better give our couple some makeup time while he is recuperating. I also want this drama to give WanXue a good ending. Her only crime was loving somebody wholeheartedly. And I want some happy news with Lan and Mu wiping out the bad wedding vibes XuanQing left. We need some happy times dammit. 😝

Adulting

Xu and XiGuang have a candid conversation as they walk back to campus. He is still an ass in his responses but tactless candor is his main form of speech. He wants to know why she didn’t use the references he found for her and she tries to put it in academic terms for him rather than trying to make him understand the emotional reasons. As they walk he realizes the girl beside him isn’t or ever will be his girl. He has fears about Rong and asks her opinion. I gotta grin when she says he looks best with shorter hair and wearing white. As they part ways she calls his name and waves — letting go of the what might have been to leave as a fond memory at the cusp of adulthood. They both realize their paths may never cross again and they are both ok with it. Her cousin then shows up to take her in a worldwide campus quest. They have a sibling like conversation and it is very sweet. I really like their relationship and hope he stays an integral part of the drama. When she gets back she has another candid conversation, but this time is with her mother. They are discussing her job opportunities and it is clear that Shengyuan has been the only solid offer or her dad’s offer of becoming his successor. I think she wishes there was a third option. Her father and the Wuxi board members collectively resent Lin for his candidness that their best move would be to focus on their product and improving it. Her dad is not happy their project was blocked by him and he has made it clear to XiGuang he doesn’t want her working for them. She does not want to work for her dad and tells him she will decide after talking to mom. Her mom doesn’t want XiGuang in the middle of family squabbles and encourages her to take the job she earned on her own. That maybe when she was older and more business savvy they could reassess if her best interest would be to work for the family company or not. So now Xu and XiGuang find themselves at the same company but in very different circles. Lin and Xu get reacquainted at a meeting and Lin corners him about XiGuang. Xu tells him she spent time abroad. So at this point neither know she has reluctantly changed her mind and getting ready to join them. I am glad they did not have her run into Rong immediately. Her work and interview status is still unknown. XiGuang is introduced to her desk and supervisor in finance dept. Her new roommates seem friendly. They are getting introduced to the different aspects of their jobs. The demand to toss the broken scales.đŸ˜‚đŸ€Ł They commiserate during meals and are gossiping about the new hottie boss that’s arriving. The one confirms it’s Lin, but none of them have ever seen him. Xi Guang totally bursts their bubble when she suggests that since he was a doctor first, isn’t it most likely he’s middle aged? đŸ€ŁđŸ˜‚They are back in room watching a drama and missing the last episode. XiGuang loses rock/paper/scissors to run to office computer to download the episode. She sees a possible connection problem and is under her desk checking cables. While she is doing this the lights come on and she sees tall dark and handsome in front of her. She goes with I’ve not seen you before do you work here? How did you get in? Seems he has a resting scowl face.đŸ˜‚đŸ€Ł

Rewards and recognition

Most in comments hate Chu’s character. I agree he is completely delusional where He Yan is concerned, but as a politician for the people, he is better than most of them. He had planned on giving He Yan medicine for her wounds to find her and Ciao Jue together under prayer tree. So he rethinks this and doesn’t. He wisely goes to emperor first. He gets recognition for assisting with supplies to Rundu. He knows there was collusion with Wutuo, but also knows evidence is required, so he pleads that He RuFei ‘may’ have done the best he could with the number against him. As a result of his actions and intel, the emperor promotes him to a level 4 magistrate. Prior to leaving Rundu, he meets with He Yan and Xiao Jue. She even invites him to accompany them to capital and he politely, and wisely, declines. Xiao Jue pointed out where he or his guard specifically hindered their mission with Chai Anxi. He also points out where Chu was helpful and eased the way. Chu continues to be one whose help cost equals hurt cost. He is truly a mixed bag and there will never be love lost between them where He Yan is concerned. Chu will always know that Xiao Jue is always first in her heart. When Chu has such a capable warrior woman that loves him by his side. It is sad she does not inspire him or get his affection. He is truly blind to the treasure he already has. He RuFei is pretty much foaming at the mouth declaring how capable he is, The entire world knows who the fake General is and he cannot grasp his own inadequacies and failures as being his fault. He curses the air she breathes and cannot wait for an opportunity to settle the score. Which is why the irony is not lost when he begs at Xu’s feet like a recalcitrant schoolboy to be helped and forgiven. Here he receives the same shoulder pat he gives to his spoiled, petty daughter. These two children of his deserve each other.😝 Chu wisely did not pay respects to his mentor until after he had received promotion and notice from emperor. Xu didn’t have bracelet in hand today because he knows too many watching. Chu tells him what he told the emperor and when prodded, did not refer to Wutuo collusion, but He RuFei’s miscalculation to try to kill Xiao Jue. This is also true, but not the root of the treason. Xu is pacified and refers him to daughter. This time, Chu is more truthful with her and refuses any outings. He has found his light and she isn’t a glimmer. I like that he makes his atrocious family put his mother’s memorial in ancestral hall and they are highly encouraged to pay her homage regularly.😂😝 He wants to introduce He Yan to her, which I would find honorable if kept in friend or sister zone category. I think even she would agree with these conditions. I like the women of Rundu forming a textile shop to make a living and bring honor to the city. This is a good future for them. I am curious what was in the letter He Yan left to be read after they left? Did she tell Li he had met his real general? Yan He says goodbye to his friends and heads for home to greet his wife and family. I don’t think he knows the emperor is aware of his actions yet, but unlike many, he does what needs done because it’s his job. He didn’t go to gain the emperor’s ear. Everything is set up for visit to capital. He RuFei is plotting for them to never arrive.

You may call her Mrs Qiao

The ‘uncle’ met with them and they now discuss war plans. Chu runs into He Yan and presents her a tassel for her weapon. She should have kept her first instinct to reject but opted to accept the gift and return one. Xiao Jue runs into them and notes the tassel and suggests he be careful or will be left with dust, referring to more than just the candy.😝When he asked how to address Ms He, Xiao Jue spoke right up and said he could address her as Mrs Qiao. 😂 Chu’s guard is in agreement about the candy. I think it will get an ‘oops’ on the way back. The commander accepts leadership of the troops even tho it could cause him trouble. He pushes that aside and says his duty is to protect all the people. Wutuo insurgents are burning the granaries taking the offensive. Xiao Jue puts He Yan in charge of the troops. When she is mocked, he told ten of them to attack her at once. She kicks their rookie behinds and even gives a hand up to the biggest mocker. They are now in agreement she knows what she’s doing. She even has the women inspired to help raise funds and make medicine. She has another encounter with Chu who she saves from a collapsing food stand damaged by fire. She sends him fire resistant clothing to help him with his fear. The people that can are fleeing the city, but Chu refuses to leave. He is determined to find Chai Anxi and determine the extent his mentor is involved in treason. He still is intrigued by He Yan and his gray character sets her aside from the norm. I don’t know that he will assist her, but I don’t think he will cause her harm either. I think she may make him imagine what could have been under different circumstances. I don’t even know that he sees her in a romantic light so much as wanting her friendship and respect. He sees her as someone worth knowing. There is just ambiguity of what type of knowing he has in mind. Xiao Jue would prefer no interaction of any kind. They now have a war room and are strategizing for best course of action. There is a flashback where we see what happened and why Liu Bu Wang did not return to his princess. He was pleading his case and his master said there would be too much discord without a marriage alliance. He even refused to let him return by knocking him out and keeping him under house arrest til the arranged marriage was a done deal. He plays the same melancholy song outside her window, but she refuses to see him. If he couldn’t see her then, she doesn’t need him now. There is no way for him to plead his case with her. Even tho she figures it wasn’t his fault she doesn’t want to hear it. She can’t open her heart to trust him again. The Wutuo army looks pretty formidable and they are getting ready to burst through the gate. He Yan asks commander to lead the elite troops to generate distractions for their elite officers. He doesn’t hesitate to agree to her request, but tells her to come back alive, and the episode ends😭 with a long time to wait.

Love is in the air

I love how he spoils her. She really likes simple things, except for weapons. There she has an eagle eye for high quality. He was awesome leaping to the spring prize to get the whip for her. But what trigger was the tassel for him? He was lost in thought over it. The dough figure he demanded her to get and to do whatever she pleased for the day. Here he spoke sincerely, not being sarcastic with her. He knows it is really her bday and he is determined to make it a day she will remember.đŸ„°The dress she was wearing sure looked like a pricey one from the dress shop that mean girl bought. When she admires her dress and in kinda surprised voice says I really look like a woman and Xiao Jue quickly responds you ARE a woman.đŸ„° It’s a poignant moment as you realize she has never been allowed to be a girl. We did not get to see if Dr Cheng and Ms Song made it across the love bridge. Our two generals shrink at the thought of forever. But as they work their way across there is no doubt the feelings they have for each other. đŸ„° The romantic boat ride surrounded by fireflies. Her pessimistic response about wishes. I wonder if the mask brought his old friend to mind, or too curious about her ten secrets ? The girls should have known better than trying to trip her up with hubby close by.😝 She tells him quite truthfully her secrets as she dances around him. When she tells him she loves the moon.đŸ„°â€ïž These two are destined for great things. They love unconditionally and will fight for their friends and brothers in arms to their last breath. These two are destined to be legendary.

Dealing with mean girls

This episode has He Yan dealing with the biases and cliques of society women. She actually adapted quite well considering. Their means to tear into her pride had some effect, but overall the things they prided themselves in she actually had little interest for. The biggest takeaway is that her ‘husband’ was entirely too handsome so she had to fight off all his fans.😂😂 Tbh, I was waiting for her to hit up the jewelry for rich girl to buy in the shop. It was a nice smack back to ask her to settle her accounts before leaving. Xiao Jue truly came through with the zither playing and making it clear all promises for his wife was kept. She noticed that he had brought along the one she bought for him. đŸ„° I also liked his response in the shop that his wife’s words were the only ones believable for him. He paid a lot for that dress but she was stunning in it. I liked that he got her food, knowing she didn’t really eat. When Cheng dragged him to ladies group he was rolling his eyes at her lies, but when she started to broaden their horizons a bit outside of the ladies in training books, etc. I think he realized how special she is and that she is beyond defining.đŸ„° He is captivated with her as much as frustrated at her audacity. But compared to those sniping women, she was a breath of fresh air. They get news about Chai Anxi’s location and follow up on it. The place is ablaze but they are thinking he faked his death. They were closer than they knew to finding him. The assassin that Chu’s guard fought with was Wutuo. I am thinking he was the server that chatted with his mentor earlier. Chai Anxi is alive for now, but he is aware that his life hangs by a thread.

The blind leading the blind

To find out only a birthmark away from the throne😝 Han had reason to be angry. But for him the bloodiest path was always his first choice. He went to great lengths to feign heroics to cover his cold blooded murder of Huai. Being treated like a hero for taking a vengeful act on an unarmed man is the epitome of irony. The Empress has nothing left to lose so she is teaming up with the less blind Prince to raise a coup against the murderer of her husband and son. Missed it by ‘that’ much on the leader of cult. Takes a blind guy to lead blind obedience in this crowd. Minister Li is still part of it but not the leader I expected. Yan Li and Sui are locked in the palace when all hell breaks loose. This is Deja vu for poor Sui, but on a much grander scale. Wan and Chi have made it inside the castle and things are getting ugly quick. Imperial guards are killed by cultists disguised as guards. They are getting ready to go toe to toe with local radicals. The blind prince should have made more effort to work with Wan and Chi. This could have been dealt with on a legal front. Having said that, considering how well the legal system worked for Jin he had every reason to not. Jin’s resigned laugh at the opulent wine decanter with poison just for him. The evidence is coming together but there is going to be a literal royal bloodbath first. That smiling eunuch that did all the dirty work finally had enough. He is more than ready to see the fake emperor die for his crimes. I’m all for that but want Yan Li and Sui out of the building first. Alive.

Reckoning coming

It had to be a most difficult thing for Prince Chi to find out how his father died and for his beloved to be the messenger. The Emperor probably thought he had sped things up enough that the truth of his murder wouldn’t be uncovered. The irony of those closest to you betraying you hits hardest. The traitor knew how Bedouins would have treated the corpse and they did not behead. He at least wanted the body left intact and figured his position secure enough to not worry about any investigations. There is a vast difference in interrogating techniques between Cheng and Prince Chi. The empress had bodyguard let out for a reason. Was she trying to save him and hide him? Or wanted him silenced and buried where no one should find him? It is disgusting that Cheng is conducting the case but minister Li holds his own. Whether it’s to help find or cover up the truth remains to be seen. Xiang is such a foolish girl. She proudly confesses her liaison with the prince and chooses to go. I can understand her hard feelings towards her aunt, she had them coming. But her uncle had only been kind to her. His reaction to her pride at illicit affair should have carried some weight. That she only held them in contempt proves there was no saving herself from her own ambition and spite. She now has no family to back her and better hope Cheng finds her useful without it. I’m sure she envisions herself on par with Yu and Wan. She doesn’t realize she has just made herself Feng girl’s maid in the house. The honor and respect she thinks coming her way is soon going to be proven a pipe dream and if she doesn’t have a male heir quickly, she will have no other use. He already had issues with Qin family before his debacle with Wan, so there is no telling what her treatment will be. The only thing determined, is she succeeded in becoming the captain of her own fate. She just chose the worst future possible. I am glad her maid stayed for Shuang. Without Xiang there to stir things up she will find happiness with her Lt and have a peaceful life. It is good to see a united bond with Prince Chi and Wan. They have resolutely decided to meet destiny head on with a united front regardless of fate. They have opted to marry during mourning period to be together sooner in spite of protocol. The treasured items in his father’s box were heartbreaking. He does at least know his father’s true sentiments in his own words. It is some solace. I was hoping the box had his mother’s ring. Maybe the dowager has it. To know that his father never wavered in loving his mother and knew what was going on in the palace let him know how much his father loved him and wanted him protected. They are making progress on dealing with the traitor. The emperor was pitiful in whining for his mother’s attention while refusing her to see her son’s body before burial. Things will not go well with him as this all unravels. That tiger tally he holds onto so tightly will not serve him well with an army that doesn’t believe in him. I am glad there was a backdoor plan to save the core remnant of the army. This is the future security of the realm. After seeing his reaction to body being discovered, I am curious how much crown prince knows about Jin. Was this simply a way to rid an obstacle to the throne? Is the scholar prince also a murderer? Or is he trying to survive in the machinations that surround him? And how does this blind Prince fit in? He doesn’t say much but listens to everything. Also, the salt traders and human trafficking cases, will these blend into this last case? Or left out of the equation? I would still like some resolution about the remains of those little girls. There is also more left with the cultists. The wood carver and artist were patsies but somebody else the leader. They didn’t have the clout to bury cases.

Leaving breadcrumbs

The emperor’s mask is fading fast. He is starting to unravel. Love how Prince Chi showed up both princes in archery. But I gotta say I cheered for crown prince keeping up with consort’s son. He did a good job holding his own. There is hope for him. Xiang is predictable in looking for love in all the wrong places😝She deserves whatever fate has in store for her. I just don’t want her taking her sis down with her. I hope that nice LT keeps after her. He might be 7th rank but he’s a good and considerate man. They would be a good match. I like Prince Yan Li fighting for Princess Ning. They are a good match if slow down the drinking. That scum with consort son pulling out rape drug on Wan. I am glad he was killed. There is no telling how many women he’s assaulted. Cheng thought he was quite the hero for the damsel in distress. She took him down with just words. 😝She held her own under harsh circumstances and the needles a nice asset in her arsenal. Prince Chi should finish the slime ball off but he won’t. But he could plant the arrow right in the middle of that coiffed hair and leave a bald spot. I know where everyone else wants the arrow to go 😂 he has no heart to hit and his manhood would be even smaller target. 😂 Maybe Wan will have a suggestion for him. Those fake wives whining to emperor. Consort and empress using Yu like a wishbone. She will be bored or abused depending on which one gets her. The fact that emperor didn’t bother to check names is troubling. He knows consort’s son in particular has issues. He never considered Wan in the mix, or did he? Was he going for plausible deniability if Prince Chi removed name? Prince Chi now commiserated with Qing getting cut off from proposal. 😝He knew the wives interference kept him from committing to Wan first publicly. It’s going to get ugly with his father, but after hearing why his father refused, I can’t fault him. It’s better to handle that at the borders than let invaders come in and then deal with them. I loved Wan’s declaration to Prince Chi.đŸ„° She had avoided commitment for so long but when she finally did, she was all in with no hesitation, no matter their status. They are truly becoming the power couple.đŸ„° I would like to think consort’s son would get in trouble, but he’s going to pretend he was hero and Prince Chi misunderstood the situation.😝 I can’t wait til they can be rid of these slime balls. Wan was quick on her feet leaving markers for Prince Chi to find. She also opted to piss off scum prince to face death rather than rape. With those two options, death would be preferable.😝 Glad scumbag knew just how good Prince Chi is in archery. Let him hang around and ponder that for awhile.😝

How just is justice?

Everything was set up for whacko artist to be leader but that still seems off. Maybe this will clear up when embezzling officials get called out and sentenced. At least no more sketch subterfuge and fake wretching😝 Never thought of Prince Yan Li scared and wanting company to get to sleep. It would be quite the irony if the one living in brothel was actually most chaste of the group. We really don’t have his backstory to know what trauma he’s dealt with. Why did Supreme Court minister want case closed? Is he doing this for emperor or cult? Is he trying to protect Wan and Prince Chi from emperor? Is emperor trying to get Prince Rui and Prince Chi killed with this corrupt official case? Does he hide behind bead bonnets as pseudo disguise because he is not who he says he is? I’m hoping Prince Chi gets a handle on this so consort and son don’t get army. So Prince Ze was poisoned along with snow blindness, by who? Princess Ning is showing responsibility but she should have a heart to heart with Prince Ze before sentencing them both to marriage. This was a tragedy between children not a plot to hurt him. Prince Yan Li going to set his woman straight.😂wonder if he will stay brave when he looks her eye to eye. 😂 This episode gives more questions than answers. I wanna know if Supreme Court minister has a flower tattoo. 😝 if he is trying to assist Wan and Prince Chi, why didn’t he help out the Shen’s? Why was he ok with the entire family being executed? What did the minister believe to be gray about the Shens? And how does Prince Ze fit in with all the royal machinations?

More sect murders

The prisoner is proven innocent and shares more details about the paint for the dark flower. The consort is behind the issues with Shuoxi army. Bribing as many as possible to undermine Prince Rui. Her son is confident that the rift between Prince Rui and Prince Chi will keep whatever plots they have in progress on schedule. He has minimal concerns. Now crown Prince has to accompany shipment of food to be sure it arrives snd Prince Chi will ensure his safety and get clues about what’s going on there. So of course Wan is going to take on Supreme Court minister. Prince Yan Li and Princess Ning are like Heckle and Jeckle 😂 They got the job done but it was more serendipity than skill. Hopefully they will get better soon. The minister is on to them about Jin case and I’m not convinced he’s not part of the cult. The cases for his jurisdiction were buried. He’s either responsible or framed for the files. Wan’s aunt is on par with the old bat that died in the fire. I hope Wan touches everything they own so they can watch it all burn.đŸ˜đŸ”„I’m glad Wan is vacating but wish she would leave a nice blaze behind her. There is a tongue case and ice case corresponding with the old cases. The chubby guy trying to start the stampede to trample evidence is definitely one of them. For all the loud wretching, the artist showed up on the scene by his own volition. He’s part of it and the Supreme Court Minister wasn’t surprised prisoner was innocent or rattled by repeat cases. But he is puzzled about her. Now he wonders if she is Shen Wan or no. I am not sure of the astrology behind the murders but think Prince Chi is working on that along with being investigative censor for military case. He has done what he can for Wan in his absence with the carriage and new residence. Wan has tipped her hand whether she meant to or not and again at a vulnerable time when they are separated. Is the minister friend or foe? I still think he fits cult leader best.😝 It’s his sweet disposition 😝On to next episode to see how things play out.
