That mortal arc was the part that felt like cultivation after that a total train wreck interspersed with small main plot parts. It feels not here or there either. Neither cultivation nor romance done well. What's the point of putting so many FLs except to emphasize how charming Han Li is to the audience.

In the novel, the ML raises a snake who sometimes does things for him but this snake didn't grow into a human form until later but that too as a child who can't talk and not very intelligent either.
