Hard to follow but worth the watch

This will be a review for both Tracer's season.

Please, binge watch both season. Do not watch anything in between. Tracer is a very hard and political drama, with a lot of characters and side-stories. You need to stay focus, really.

This a revenge drama, yeah it's about taxes but it's just the background of this story. It's about a men who try to venge his father death. And to punish all the powerful peoples who let him die.

Sometimes it's really hard to follow because they talk about laws and taxes in South Korea, that are different in each country, but that's maybe the only negative point.

This drama has no romance whatsoever, so don't be surprised. You'll find some wise lines and some hopeful messages.

I regret watching it on air, i waited more than 10 days between each episode and then 4 month for season 2. I need to rewatch it, to enjoy it properly.

Real, honest, unexpectedly wonderful

I'm not the kind of person who like romance, but god damn, this drama is absolutely brilliant.

We follow two men who works together at an unknown society, and we don't know much about them. One is older and looks like he's depressed and lonely. The other is his subordinate and looks passionate and brave.
Yes, there's a 10y old age gap but, this time it's the subordinate who seduce the older male first, and in a subtle way.

Together, they try to be happier in a very positive way, by eating sweets and doing foolish stuff (they first make a sort of bet, to look like young girls always giggling and living foolishly). And we see them smile wider and wider and bonding. And i can assure you this is what love is.

I just watched episode 4 and yes, i screamed. There's this one scene, in one shot, raw, unfiltered and it was magical.

Do you know why i hate most romance dramas? Because they are too cheesy, too unreal but it's not the case for Old Fashion Cupcake, it's so honest and real, you will feel dizzy watching it.

The most honest, peaceful and wholesome drama.

This drama was absolutely wonderful. It's a very simple drama, about the life of a couple and their son. The woman is sick, very sick and she asks her husband to cook for her. They were separated and the sickness made them fall in love again.

This is not a romance.
This is not a melodrama neither.

It's just the reality of life, of being sick, of death.

Maybe because i'm older, because i know how relationships works, how terrible sickness can be, but this drama moved me so much.
I laughed, i cried, i enjoyed each minutes of this gem.

The acting is perfect (the ML's voice is so sweet and peaceful), the writing, the direction... the cinematography... there were no flaw at all.

Real slice of life

I'm so glad to have seen this drama, it moved me, in a good way.
Most of the time, slice of life's drama are too melodramatic, not this one. This one is funny, real, honest, relatable.

It start with a 40y old divorce dad. He's fed up with his job, with his life and then one day he quit his job to become a webtoonist.
He looks like a selfish and stupid person on the outside, and sure, he is like that from time to time, but he is so positive and confident and honest and he tries his best.

Everyone around him struggle and in a very realistic way.
But what moved me the most its how they show fatherhood in a positive way. Like, i wish i had a father like Nam Geun Pil.

There's no villain here, only people's who wants to be happy and who tries their best.
There's no closure neither because there's no closure in life.

Funny AND interesting

So, it's about a real estate agency and there's this saler, who is the best. Why? Because he is lying all the time. But he is soon to be cursed by the god of truth (or something like that) and he can't lie anymore. And yes, it's like this movie with Jim Carrey, and yes it's the same plot BUT how did they manage to make this drama so entertaining? One word :acting. Yamashita Tomohisa play the male lead and, damn he is perfect and hilarious.
The female lead, Fukuhara Haruka, play a rookie agent, and she's so honest and real!
The story is quite simple, it's mostly about day to day sales, with a little bit of spice (war with another agency, spy and so on).
And, you learn about real estate in Japan (if you want to move there one day) and it's interesting? Idk why but it's interesting.

It's short (10 ep of 44mn) and it's refreshing!

Women's friendship at work

It's hard to be a woman, it's harder in some country like in Japan. Women tend to be criticized, scrutinized and shamed by their peers but Shirakawa has a strong mental and a strong will power!

She looks like a popular girl because she's pretty and thin, but she has no friends at work. Most of the women tend to be jealous of her and badmouth her.
And yet, she managed to not resent them and keep a huge smile on her face. Her kindness is seen as hypocritical but soon, she makes some friends.
Because she is mentally stable and positive, her new friends start to feel more positive too! And their friendship is beautiful to watch.

This sweet and simple drama made me smile and cry, i wish i had some strong friendship like that. I wish i was mentally strong like Shirakawa. I wish women stopped fighting with each other and worked hands in hands.

Like in the song from the start "World peace by creating a chain of happiness"!

Also, this drama talk about weight, confidence, loneliness and even menstruation!

Too predictable but a nice closure

This second part is less thrilling than the first part, except for the last episode.

The kids are great and their performance is perfect, seriously.

I was quite pleased to see the grown-ups playing a bigger part here, and to see them believing and helping the kids (it was a relief really).

The plot is still the same than in part one, except there a new villain, way more dangerous, but it was too predictable from the beginning.
In some episodes, the kids were just wandering there and there, waiting for something to happen, that was useless.

But the last episode, longer than the rest (52mn) was pretty good, thrilling, funny and satisfying!

A realistic movie

It's not a feminist movie, it's a realistic one. It depicts the hard life of women and how our capitalist and misogynistic's society treat them.
How women have to bear the burden of their entire family. And how motherhood and marriage are a trap.
But this movie show also how men are useless, how they do not react even when their loved ones are hurt/sick. How men do not react at work when they see sexual harassment, sexual violence.
It was painful to watch because it was so realistic, in every scene, in every dialogue, Kim Ji Young has to be the strongest one, her mother, her sister too. And the men in her family? Useless.

If you want to get married and have kids, watch this movie before.
If you're a empathetic man, watch this movie, you'll learn things.
I'm glad i have watched it.
