I was wondering, is Khatun a Masochist or what? Why is she letting herself be tortured just to seek sympathy from…
i think she does this in order to take everyone’s guard off of her. this way she could do all the scheming and carry out her evil plans behind the scenes.

no one would be expecting someone as pitiful and weak as her to be such an evil manipulative mastermind.

she’s basically playing that strategy that li shimin had told chang ge in episode 1. when you don’t have enough power, you have to draw your claws in until you have built up enough power to finally launch the attack.

That is a very big question. Tao (道; dào) which literally means "way" or the path, is the cornerstone of Taoism…
i literally teared up during that whole conversation as i recalled her journey with her.

our girl has really grown up and has matured so much. :,)

i’m so happy and proud of her and the bgm music just further intensified the scene making it even more beautiful.

hey guys me again lol, so i’ve been thinking a lot about shuyu’s character after reading some previous discussions, and here are my thoughts about his character.

i feel like the way shuyu’s character was written is really tragic somehow. he grew with our two main heroines and along the way they both grew up and matured while he is still stuck where he has always been.

internally he is a self righteous and morally good good guy. but he had made decisions that had cost him his friendship with Chang ge and in the upcoming episodes decisions that might cost him leyan’s trust and love as well. with his recent conversation with hao du, it is clear that he regrets his past actions although he can’t really be blamed for them.

i feel like in the end he will make a huge sacrifice or do something majorly impactful in some way. just thinking about his character makes me so sad. hopefully everyone will have a happy ending.

i can already picture him being the loving kindhearted uncle who is taken advantaged of by haoyan’s kid who seeks her uncle for protection when getting scolded by her/his mother haha.

hmmm . Both had one of the most important persons in their life killed and it involved people they love causing…
oh no, I think you've misunderstood me haha. I am one of the biggest chang ge Stans here so I'm always trying to understand her and defend her :) I completely understand why things happened the way they did and I'm not blaming chang ge what so ever. and based on many subtle hints, I am positive that shimin didn't kill her mother. I was just trying to reason why she would think that A'Sun would hate her and not want to rescue her lol.

When Sun won the duel and dragged Changge to take her away, she pauses for a moment, looks him in the eye, doesn't…
such great insights! thanks for sharing, i did not even think about this. it makes so much sense if you actually think about this and compare it to chang ge’s character and everything she has done before. :,)

this makes me love our two leads even more, always making sure the other one is safe at the risk of themselves

hey guys so i just rewatched ep 25 and i came to a realization. i don’t know if someone has already made this connection but i’m just going to say it anyway haha.

the reason that chang ge was so sure that sun would hate her and not look for her was because she knows exactly what he was feeling. he lost the person who he loves most, his mother. she too had lost the most important person to her, her mother including the rest of her family. and the person who caused alir’s death is chang ge herself, which was further emphasized by sun in a fit of rage.

chang ge’s family was killed by the person who she loved and respected with all her heart. and afterwards all she had on her mind was hatred as well as the thirst of revenge for the person responsible for her family’s death, which was her own uncle.

at this point she is still unaware/unsure of sun’s affections for her. she thinks he only sees her as a friend/ally. so she figures that of course he would hate her guts since she was the person who caused his mother’s death. she probably reasoned that if all she felt was hatred towards her uncle even though she had had so much love for him, sun would for sure despise her because to him she was just a friend/ally who had betrayed him.

this would explain why she had felt so hopeless and was confident that sun wasn’t going to look for her.

anyway just my two cents haha.

I watched episodes 22 and 25 last night. And I would like to say something to those who were so angried after…
*applause* wow you had worded everything so beautifully! everything was spot on and need no further explanation. what you said was so true and i can agree with every point you made. i feel like the reason people tend to overlook Chang Ge’s flaws, struggles, and sorrows is because she is the main lead. The story is centered around her so people tend to have high expectations for her being the perfect, smart, and badass lead. So when her flaws start to show they are disappointed because they were expecting too much.

for Leyan who is the second lead doesn’t have much expectation placed on her. She’s a weak naive girl who’s character develops into a more strong and independent one, something that all viewers love watching.

A’Sun on the other hand in their eyes is the perfect male lead who can do no wrong. Not saying that Sun is in the wrong here, just that some of his flaws may be overlooked compared to Chang Ge who is being criticized for everything she does. The fact he’s a strong, protective male lead who would do anything for his love is very admirable or deserves appraisal, however this could also be a flaw because it would also make him rash and reckless in his decisions as well. Sun also fails to see things from the Chang Ge’s perspective and the Tang side which is also something he could improve on.

i’m sure that both our leads will learn from their lessons and will reunite with clarity and a new found understanding for each other :)

that’s all i have to say hehe

i just wanted to say that i am absolutely in love with this drama!! i don’t think i’ve ever been this attached to a c-drama lol. everything is just perfect! i love every single song from the soundtrack, instrumentals and all, and i even set Lusi’s song as my ringtone lol. hopefully they’ll release the full soundtrack soon ㅠㅠ the acting of everyone is absolutely amazing and outstanding!

i initially came here for Reba but ended up staying for the storyline and amazing actors and actresses. Lusi’s character is one i don’t usually like, but she has brought the character to life in a way where i can sympathize with her and in turn want to protect her. she’s just so pure and wholesome, and her character development has been one of my favs! love this little ball of sunshine <3

i didnt like hao du’s character from the start yet liu yuning had managed to make me fall for him as well. the way he acts with just his eyes is just so captivating! i don’t know how he does it! not mention his voice is so attractive!

reba as chang ge is definitely my favorite character of hers. she had clearly embodied this role and her acting had improved so much. i loved her crying scenes and she carried them out so well. i also think she had portrayed her male role really well, and definitely better than lots of other actresses. even i fell for her male charms haha. i’m so proud to be her fan and witness her growth and how far she’s come :,)

and finally wu lei!! he is by far my fav character and i am completely enamored by this man and his talent! i was a bit wary at first because of the age gap, but wu lei has done such a wonderful job as ashile sun and had definitely done justice to this character. he has definitely made ashile sun one of my fav male leads! to think he is only 21 is absolutely crazy because as ashile sun he gives off such a dominant and powerful presence. i love how he isn’t controlling or overly protective of chang ge, but let’s her do things on her own whilst protecting her secretly. he respects her and sees her as his equal. HIS ACTIONS DEFINITELY SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. i can confidently say that i am officially a wu lei stan and i love him so much! he definitely is a very talented actor and i wish him the best in the future because he will go far!

honorable mentions are a duo and li shimin! the actor who plays a duo is such a young talent and i was heartbroken to see him go ㅠㅠ. Li shimin is such a great character and i wish that they had explored him a bit more as well as the different dynamics that he has with both le yan and chang ge. i love his character and the actor is also very attractive haha

can’t wait to see the rest of the story unfold and i hope for happy endings for all of our characters! however, i absolutely love tragedies for some reason and wouldn’t mind if it has a sad ending, but only if it is carried out right and reasonably:)

Gosh, just watching the episodes of The Long Ballad made me realize how unfortunate the women are specifically…
i a completely agree with you on the hardships and tragedy that the women of this drama go through. despite all of their sufferings i really appreciate every single female character on the show. all of the women you had mentioned were strong female characters who carried such grace and compassion in their roles.

Chang ge’s mom kills herself however tried her best to ensure that Chang ge would live a happy life.

madame gongsun had graciously accepted and understood her husband’s sacrifice and willingly went with him. all though i loved her for that, i was a bit disappointed that she had left poor yuan’er an orphan.

princess yicheng despite the sufferings and humiliations she’s gone through still carries on in order to protect her son.

and finally our dear alir, who had saved Sun when he was young and now sacrifices herself to spare him the humiliation of bowing down to She’er.

i love them all with all my heart :,)

to be honest, I think the only useless character I find in this drama is shu yu. for the life of me, I can't seem…
i actually really liked his character from the beginning. i tend to have a soft spot for best friends to lovers trope and he was very appealing in the begin, not to mention he is also visually attractive. but as the story goes on i’ve come to dislike his character. honestly at this point i don’t like his character as much as i don’t like she’er lol. all talk and no action, at least she’er takes action despite his cowardice!

I completely agree with you! Unlike many viewers I am not annoyed by her at all. In fact I love that all her actions…
i share the same thoughts as you :) i’m only wary for the upcoming episodes because i think someone mentioned earlier on that this director tends to make his female leads do stupid things that doesn’t align with their characters in order to further the male lead’s development. hopefully it doesn’t happen here!

Another thing I think we as the audience tend to do is expect change to come immediately. I've read a lot of comments…
well said! change definitely cannot happen overnight lol especially for someone at her age. she needs to keep making mistakes and slowly learn from the experiences

I totally agree with you:)) Everyone is blaming on changge for latest situation...but they forgot the escape plan…
You’re absolutely right. I just hope in the future, Chang Ge will be able to understand Sun and see things from his perspective. One thing that absolutely annoyed was how she got mad at Sun for proceeding with the war against Tang, when it’s shown clearly many times that he’s just a puppet for Khan to control, and that all of his actions will result in dire consequences for him.

And also Princess Sui was involved and she herself wanted Changge to save the general. I'm pretty sure Changge…
YES, there is princess Sui to blame as well as She’er, yet all the blame is pushed to Chang Ge ㅠㅠ

although it is her fault for being too trusting, she wasn’t the cause for Alir’s death.

honestly i was one of those who was so pissed about Changge last night but when i put myself on her shoes i understood…
i completely agree with you! it is all the writer’s fault haha! i absolutely hate it when they do this, either the female lead has to be impulsive and annoying to further the male leads development, or the male lead is completely useless to further the female leads development. so far we’ve only seen Sun saving Chang Ge while Chang Ge has only saved him once? When in the manhua she has saved him more times. Hopefully the writing get improved, i’m loving this drama way to much to be disappointed in the end ㅠㅠ

Okay I’m seeing a lot of people being irritated, annoyed, and even hating on Chang Ge’s character due to the recent episodes, and I don’t things that it’s exactly fair for us all to blame her for everything that had happened.

Was she impulsive and rash in her decisions? Yes. Should she have been more careful and listened to Sun’s warnings? YES. Should have have communicated more with Sun and come up with a better plan rather than rushing inside the Khan’s tent? YES.

But, I’d like to remind everyone that Change Ge was a princess who has pretty much been happy and carefree for most of her life. Not to mention she is 15 and has lesser experience compared to Sun who grew up learning how to survive on his own.

Another important fact that someone had mentioned earlier is that we viewers are able to see the story unfold and see and understand from everyone’s perspectives. However the characters themselves don’t.

Therefore Chang Ge has no way of knowing how Sun truly feels about her and all the things he has done for her.

In her mind, she has lost everyone she has cared about. Although Sun has become her friend and ally, he was still the one who had captured and humiliated her in front of everyone, even though it was for her own good. But then again, she has a hard time understanding that because she can’t imagine why he would do so.

The only thing that matters to Chang Ge now is Tang. Love isn’t something that is on her mind. For her love for Tang, she was even willing to put aside her revenge towards her uncle, which had been the only thing that had kept her going in the beginning. She doesn’t value her life, and is willing to do everything she can to help Tang.

It was Sun’s decision as well as Alir’s to involve themselves in her plan. She didn’t want to implicate Sun or the Eagle division, and had told him multiple times that she should just let her bare the consequences of her own actions.

However, Sun being the amazing man that he is, continues to protect and save our stubborn and impulsive heroine.

No one is truly at fault here, and I just wanted to shine a different perspective on things. Sorry for the long post!

Hopefully after this event, Chang Ge will mature through her time with her new master and start to understand Sun and his love for her, as well as reciprocate his feelings.

Does anybody know the bgm/instrumental music that plays in the scene during ep 23 when the commoners (nurse, tailor, risckshaw man, slavehunters...) assembled and came to seek refuge and help out the Righteous Army; or the scene during ep 20 when Eugene was inside the French Bakery asking the baker to let him meet with Ae Shin? Both scenes have the same bgm score and it’s my most favorite one used in the drama. However I can’t seem to find it. :(( if anybody knows what it is called or manages to find it, please let me know!!! Thank you.
