In the book he just works in the entertainment industry because he believes or make himself believe that Joe is still alive and tries to get Joe's attention so that he will come back. He works with Tong because he's family now that he has married his sister. Ming doesn't have any feelings left for Tong anymore.

In my experience VPNs work good on WeTV. Maybe try Germany. I watched it from there, so it should work. Or any other European country I would guess.
