Never has toxicity been so much fun in a bl series. š Hua Yong is more complex than I thought and I think it is genius how they turned the chasing trope upsidedown. And the actors (Eliott and Kipuka in special) have something between them.. for me their chemistry is outstanding and it gets better with every episode. (normally I donāt become delulu with ships, but.. ugh!)
I thought they do this only in thai series, but.. the house. It has a double role at the moment: Shinchiros parents live in the same house as the friend of Suzume in ā40 things I want to do before I turn 40ā (ep. 10). š Havenāt seen this in a JBL before.
In is crying every week, I am crying every week. I wouldnāt even say itās the best series this year, but Jimmy and Sea have my heart in a chokehold with this.
I can connect with Shinichiroās past really strong. The memories of school, other kids, the lonelyness. To be an adult and still have that trauma and running away from it. Still unable to have normal relationships with colleagues or friends, let alone partners. Shinichi and Kosuke help each other heal, and that hits me emotionally. For me this was a powerful episode. The fact that kissing and more seem awkward fits Shinichiās character. The L in BL stands for "love," not just for spice or kissing. Sure, they could have told the story more physically, but they didn't. Me as one of these people whose adult lives began in a similarly complicated way feel a little bit seen..
Sea and Keen have really good acting chemistry together. In Only Boo, I had the impression that Sea's facial expressions still needed improvement. Now, in MuTeLuv, it's better, and they've given him a character that suits having few facial expressions. That was a really good start to the series, in my opinion.
Yeah, I think I will wait with watching until the series is complete. I donāt want to be emotional involved over weeks (with one episode per week) in a story that is so frustrating and maybe just a waste of time. nah.. Iāll wait and watch it then in one piece.
I canāt see the romanticising of SA in this story. They show it as something really bad (what it is). They showed that something bad happened in the past but we donāt see what or who. Has anyone yet come up with the idea (rhetoric question) that maybe nothing happened the way they'd like us to believe? Yes, maybe it's a bad story in the end, but we're far from the end; we're only halfway through the story.
okay, episode 5 did a real U-turn. Didnāt expect it to get so dark so fast, oof. but we didnāt see what happened. we saw and heard what the others thought what happened.. I think it was revenge for the āstolenā girlfriend.. š¤(donāt want to know spoilers from the novel.)
Edit: not revenge, but it has to do with it. There is more behind everything than we can see at the moment..
Every time I think to myself that I'm not such a big Jimmy Sea fan, I see the two of them acting together and am struck by how well they fit together. For me, this series feels like a giant painting with a tragic theme and many (painful) details in bright, heartwarming colors. (I can't put it any other way...)The right balance of happy and sad scenes is really difficult to act and with these two it feels natural and authentic and as if itās the easiest thing in the world.
I donāt know if it is so clever to watch the first episode at night in the dark, but I donāt want to stop and wait until tomorrow either.. š Itās a really satisfying first episode.
Giving Little Vinegar back to Wang Shuo as a closure for this relationship was such a powerful act! The orchestration of this series until the āimplosionā in ep. 18 is really good filmmaking.
I read the novel. I knew how the ticking timebomb would explode. But when it happened I just could cry. I never thought it would hit me like this. It really hurts. And will hurt until next monday..š (And then it will get better. Really.)
okay, after the first episode I thought that this series is just not for me, but the story is unfolding, the actors are warming up and the second episode got me hooked.
That was a really good start to the series, in my opinion.
