It will probably rise soon. But It's also important to remember that Japanese series usually gets lower ratings than Thai series even when they are of higher quality...
I would not go into this movie expecting a lot of GL. Apparently Anne likes some young cop and the story is more about Jane reflecting on her time spent with these characters, it deals with her discovering her sexuality, having a crush on Anne, but don't expect some happy ending between the girls. No Romeo will be a proper GL but this movie is not that, based on what I have read.
I really like the cover, I'm always more interested to read a GL novel when it has a more sophisticated cover style than the typical manga style you usually see.
To the commentators who think she's "too young:"The age of consent in thailand is 15, so there's no law being…
Why don't you do an experiment and hang out with a 17-year-old high school girl and then a 28-year-old man who has a job and see if they are equally mature? Fucking Idiot.
The series version of Pluto is messy in a completely different way then "US", the plot and their situation is…
too early to judge Mate since it's a story about trauma, the chemistry could be fire later. I think Faye has so much charisma she was able to carry the chemistry for Yoko 😅. Imagine if Faye was paired with Yoko's gay sister instead🔥 she is going to be in a GL called Roller Coaster.

🤔I feel like the reason her adaptations always succeed has nothing to do with her writing, she is just really lucky with the casting. Her series always gets the actors with the best chemistry, that is literally the only reason why they are successful. Also her novels are cheap to make into series since their mostly just character drama.
bro it’s literally so toxic in the series too let’s bsfr
You can make a romance interesting without having any toxic elements if you're a good writer. I have read lesbian novels and seen a few lesbian movies (American and European) that do this well. Instead of making the couple have conflict, you can instead make the plot have interesting conflict. Having a dysfunctional relationship is not the norm and should not be normalized in the media either. The people who write this, like Chao Planoy, probably need to educate themselves on how to have a healthy relationship and get therapy...

I agree that people are too quick to judge this series, I thought ep 5 was pretty good. However your point that we need series like this because otherwise there would just be cute gl makes no sense, Literally the only Thai gl that is sweet and wholesome is 23.5 (and it didn't even do it well) literally almost all gl especially the ones written by Chao Planoy have dark stuff in them or toxic stuff in them. So no, besides the SA plot, mate is not different than other Chao Planoy GL, we need more wholesome GL, THAT would be different.
I have to disagree. It was written in 2018 and definitely has that early Thai GL novel vibe, with it's iffy wattpad writing, it reminds me of Chao Planoy and others from that era. I feel like newer Thai GL novels are so much better written. I liked parts of the novel but it tried too hard to be edgy and there should not have been any heteronormative nonsense in it, hopefully they will remove that for the series. Most GL fans on X have been critical of GL's where a man is the cause of the drama, instead of writing a drama centered on just women, (again, typical of early Thai GL novels). I hope the writer/s are able to improve it, I think in 2025 with so many good GL's to watch, fans will not support GL's that don't respect our tastes anymore...
The screenwriter is same as bad guy my boss. Now I'm scared 😰
He has just written BL so I assumed he was gay but it turns out bro has a gf/wife so now I'm even more worried that this will feel like a male gazy straight dude writes lesbians series. I reeeally hope they have women working with him that will correct him on everything he get's wrong, If he does this alone , then this will be the first Thai GL adapted only by a man. It seems like Shades is written by a woman at least.
Could've been better if ploy was a stand in just like the novel
I just dislike when you watch a wlw series or movie where you can tell the writers felt they had to put something heteronormative in it. Secondly, I liked May having an ex girlfriend, because most gl basically have characters that have 0 experience dating women and then meet their soulmate with their first relationship. Now technically May dated her sister but that was because she thought she was the one she fell in love with in school so it's not the same...
I loved the episode overall but why did they decide to make her ex just a platonic straight friend that she called for "girlfriend"? That was so weird and unnecessary, do they HAVE to force some straight thing into a GL?
So your saying it's better when women that fetishize queer men write about them then when actual queer men write…
Imagine if some guy wrote "only a man could write lesbian series this good!"(That would obviously never happen for obvious reasons, but if some guy DID write that literally everyone would bash him...) but that's how weird you sound rn ijbol😂 or imagine a white person saying "only a white person can write about the black experience this good"🙃 just because it was a woman that wrote it and it's about queer men instead doesn't smh give you a free pass to say something so offensive 😭
