I watch Cdramas for entertainment value, I find them relaxing in a chaotic and stressful world. They are a lightweight ‘guilty pleasure’. In real life, I listen to, watch and read more intellectually stimulating content. I still can’t tolerate bad writing, illogical story-line’s and poor acting. Cdramas for me should have enough depth to keep me intrigued and wanting more. In terms of looks, really good actors can make you believe they are attractive, even if they are not so in a more typical sense. If you add in great lighting, styling, direction and camera angles, almost anyone can look good.
Is it worth a watch? Are chinese dramas as good or better than kdrama? I’m getting a bit tired of kdrama xD
I started on Kdramas about 5 years ago, but ran through the ones I liked. I switched to Cdramas a couple of years ago, still watch the occasional Kdrama. There are a lot more Cdramas, so you have more to choose from. The good ones have a much higher budget and great actors as well as great story lines. There are still a lot of subpar ones, but on this site many people will give you their recommendations. Once you get used to them , hopefully they are for you!
Recent shows I've seen that in my opinion self-imploded.I start with saying these are already overall above average…
For myself, I would also add - Flourished Peony and Lost You Forever. One that did hold strong to the end was T Story of Kunning Palace. Could probably think of more later.🙂

People have mentioned that Xie Zheng is less crazy compared to the novel, but when his wifey was almost sold off into the mountains by the other butcher he totally lost it! If Chang Yu hadn’t woken up . That guy would have died for certain. They hadn’t even been together that long, but I loved his tears. He was already totally a goner!
