I totally agree, I was shocked that she's supposedly 14 as I was certain she's 8-10. The character itself is not…
yup, my bad, you are right. Portman was their first choice and the second one was Danes, but still a minor and an adult. I understood your take from the beginning, I just made a parallel (casts&storylines). Love her, too:)

this shouldnt be a big deal:) Almost all of their costume dramas have heroines of 15-16 years old, acting cute( this is how asian girls are characterized in novels/dramas), and they try to keep it green flag till they become adults. Hidden Love keeps it green flag, too, both novel and drama. We have Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is 13 years old in Shakespeare's original tragedy, not even 14. In the adaptations, they cast minors for Juliet whatever the adaptation was (Portman was 13 and DiCaprio 21 in the adaptation, and in the first adaptation both leads were minors).Romeo and Juliet did sleep together after their marriage, not big age gap, but still minors in novel, and minor actress and adult actor in rl. Red flag? Actually, nobody cares, the novel is a masterpiece, the movies were pleasant to watch. You wont see that in cdramas. There were recommendations to avoid lines which include "little girl", even this is part of the novel. I am happy they kept so close the storyline though. That's why I said they made the smartest compromise. ZLS nailed it
Victor Ma is sporting those dangling ear rings again, and looking like a rocker... He was leaving now.
CZY sang a song some time ago and there was a video from that show on net (poor him was really bad in that clip, hilarious). When they filmed, Lusi saw it and asked CZY if is really him there. In an interview, CZY said he was so afraid Lusi will see him like he was in that video and she will never be able to see him like DJX(the handsome ge ge). He ran in today live coz she teased him singing the song in that video...poor him hides :)

they changed the timeline but kept the storyline. Between the very young childish char and the censorship, they gave us a little bit more grown up char with a childish sweetness. I think it was the smartest compromise they could do

I got your point, but both of them are in char (drama and novel), this is how the teenager writer of the novel saw SZ at different ages. Maybe weak isnt the right word I should use, she was spoiled and protected by her family. if I remember well, she was ill in her childhood (I have to check this again in the novel). It isnt strange for a girl who was witty at 13-14 old to transform into a shy and childish person. Young girls use to be childish and play cute ( you can see this in other modern cdramas or in videos of actresses on net )More, SZ is still the cunning and witty girl with his brother, she is seriuos and really another person at school, with her classmates. I am really happy to see that char isnt plain
I’ve no complaints bout the drama apart from one, Sang zhi’s childhood actress is way too young for a 14 year…
she was chosen that way coz her char is short, thin and weak. Very fragile. SY said she should be happy coz at 30 she will look like 18 (ep 2). A healthy young girl of 11 playing a weak girl of 14 it's perfect.
This Bts is so lovely, made my morning and brought tears in my eyes. And the poster melted me (No matter whether you are going forward or backward, home is always the warmest harbor.) https://twitter.com/afterrnoont/status/1671696095351812097
The dubbing voice is very close to hers but i‘m almost certain it’s not hers. I think it was around LLTG when…
there are pics of her dubbing her own voice for HL, uploaded by her Studio. Dont take everything of what AvenueX says as a truth...coz it's not:). She talks nonsense many times. ZLS is one of the actresses who uses a lot her own voice.
lol. If this seems creepy to you it's just coz of your mind , the way you think. There's no red flag, she has…
Not sure why you became suddenly defensive, you posted your opinion, I posted mine. I guess we own it equally;) Now, the young actress was 12 when they filmed (check MDL), she cant be 8 whatever you want/need/feel. A healthy young actress of 12 playin a teenager of 14 wich was weak and sick in her chilhood and couldnt grew properly. I think she was perfectly chosen. Maybe you use to see adult asian actors playing teenagers, so that's why when you see a real asian teenager you think she's too young for her real age. More, they dont look like caucasians, either... if I envy asian women is coz of their graceful allure, petite bones, their skin and coz they never show their age
Wow, the scene were Sang Zhi first meets Duan Jia Xu in ep 1 was so uncomfortable...I mean girl is hardly some…
lol. If this seems creepy to you it's just coz of your mind , the way you think. There's no red flag, she has her first crush at 14 years old and he treats her like a younger sister.
Why is this rating so law😭It was 8.8 before an hour ago..
there are ppl who rate dramas with 1 (as you see in rev. section, they make new accounts and rate it several times like that). They are other actress/actor fans. I find it kinda silly, coz this doesnt push their fav's dramas. This is a common practice on Douban (Chinese site), but there, they are paid to do it at least. I dont look at ratings anymore, I cant trust them. But I look at the number of watchers and which are the streaming platforms. Hidden Love has over 7000 watchers after few hours of airing. This is very good for a modern drama which is streaming only on a single platform and hasnt the tv exposure. It has almost 5 mil reservations, which is a record for a modern drama, made HL top 1 for Youku platform . Also, it hit 9000 pop. in 4 hours, which is great. In this case, those 1 ratings really doesnt make sense. If ppl feel they are robbed, they can rise it rating each ep with good ratings and in the end of the drama with a general one.
For Asians don't expect to see age gaps , they hardly age with their looks , especially with the age they r displaying…
in the novel the age gap is 7 years. In the adaptation, the age gap is less then 5. Anyway, ZLS really brought the pure and innocent Sang Zhi from the novel come to life
