For 37 ep you're prepared for the ending
However, their love was intense, consumed, they spent quality time together till the last day when he leaves in order to not let SMZ and us see him passing. He wanted SMZ will remember him during their happy days (and we also remember him this way)
ML ends his arc fulfilling his aims: cleared his clan name, took revenge, is peaceful coz FL is strong and has a powerful position
FL gave away her position, her business and traveled for 40 years, doing what she always wanted: to continue the tradition of jewelry manufact. of her father (and ML's clan), leading her convoy. Romance line 20% of story line

So, if you are looking for a fairy tale-this drama isnt one. Seeing him dying for 37 eps couldnt lead to another ending. Finding a cure in the last ep would be nice for romantics but it would be annoying and kinda cheap (i should say i also waited for this miracle and I would close eyes to the forced ending)

What you'll miss if you wont watch: great cinematography, chars well written, complex, with insane chemistry (not only the leads), good acting (in my opinion this is one of the best of ZLS if not the best). Story line interesting from the beginning to the end)

The plot is heavy, there are several deleted scenes which make the plot weaker, but not to the point to be annoying.
For ppl who dont watch drama just to find dunno what production mistakes, this drama is a good watch. Not only coz I say it, but drama ranks 13 in Global Netflix today, with 644 points. PPL are watching The Story of Pearl Girl
