In line with what you wrote above, it is always a good idea to watch different adaptations/productions to find how which aspects you appreciate most!
i.e. British, US, and other adaptations of Jane Austen's books/Mr. Darcy, etc. i.e. Ballet/Opera: different productions of Black Swan or Madame Butterfly. i.e. Broadway shows/Hollywood: Chicago, Rent, etc
The lists goes on and on! Without the remake, at times, we might not have known about the original (amid my comment above). 😂

For those debating to watch or not to watch, this is my perspective/angle (different)......
A remake/cover of any forms of entertainment is the biggest compliment to the original.
Remake: Without this remake, I would NOT have known (& enjoyed) My Mister. Similar to my affinity towards the remake of Sabrina (which delivered a poignant quote from a character who "found herself while walking the streets of Paris"), I gave the original Sabrina a chance and liked/appreciated it !🥰
Deceased talented artist(s): As for your support/love/regards for the ML (original), I completely understand how 'you' feel. 🩷🥲 i.e. Difficult as it may, I still listen to Coco Lee's Chinese version of Reflection (Mulan ost) because the lyrics resonate with me more; I also continually support many works from deceased artists/actors/etc. As much as I love the originals of many things, I also grown to love 'lovers tears' from Sandy Lam and songs covered by Shan Yichun. 😄
Now I know what commenters meant when they wrote about the good casting in the remake!!👍 Great casting selections; both looks wise and acting abilities (are on point with the original)! 🤩
I guess my reasoning and comprehension of anti is different! Anti-at times to me means a person doesn’t even give something a try/opportunity (and totally against/distain)! You at least watched kdramas and progressed to other dramas such as J drama and C dramas. lol 😂 👍 keep on enjoying

I see a lot of these dramas to be more nationalism (or patriotism as addressed in the west) and definitely marketing to their own Chinese citizens! So far, I don't see much propagandas but rather accounting what transpired in history and how the families/people are dealing with adversities/hardships in this drama.
Same messages on propaganda on the "Nanjing" movie MDL page! 🤦🏻♀️ No one ever says the movie , Schindler's List, is filled with propaganda? 🤷🏻♀️. Totally on board that it is propaganda to some audiences simply because the entertainment is from China (a communist country).
