Upgrade from season one, but still too many plot twists

I must say I liked season two more than season one. One of the reasons is plot - this time it was linear and actually possible to follow. It didn’t have too many side plots, which would’ve taken away from the main plot. It almost seems like season one is the introduction to season two and in this season the actual story begins. I also liked the new characters, especially Time. I like how through him we got a totally new view of the whole gifted program. And can we talk about his and Pang’s friendship! It was precious.

I love how in this season, especially at the beginning, the original Gifted students are actual real friends and hang out together. It is such an upgrade from their relationships in season one. Now they actually seemed like a team. I have to mention Pang and Wave’s friendship! But it made me frustrated how all of them let outside forces tear them apart and not trust each other for some time during the season.

I think that the ending of this series was a little bit rushed and buried in plot twists. Maybe a couple more episodes wouldn’t have hurt? Just like in season one the power balance between good and evil was soooo off until the very end. But I liked the solution that Pang chose in the end about giving a chance for everyone to have a superpower. Even though I must say that I didn’t enjoy throughout the whole series how all the gifted students put all the pressure on Pang to tell them what they have to do and then got angry when things didn’t turn out the best…

Acting in this season was so much better than in season one in my opinion. Their acting skills were not so different anymore that some were much better than others. I really enjoyed this show acting wise!

In conclusion I would say that I actually recommend this show, but be ready for a hundred and one plot twists during the show.

A series that leaves you with so many questions: What R U?

I started to watch this show because I saw its name quite often in the YouTube comment section. I almost started to feel like it was a classic Thai BL, that everyone should see. So, I gave it a go and now I am confused - why is it so popular? It took me about five episodes to actually get into this show and even then it wasn’t that good. I managed to enjoy it for maybe two episodes and then the ending was just so boring that I only finished it, because I had already watched so much of it. This whole series starts like a comedy (or even parody) and then half way through its suddenly romantic drama/comedy. The change of genre was so out of the blue and weird, that I am still confused about it… I guess we all can understand that covid played quite a big role in making this series. Therefore I can excuse some of the mess of this show, but not everything. One reason why I was left so confused about this series is the fact that the plots are so messy and you don’t really understand what they want to say with this series.

The whole show starts with a fanfiction storyline as I like to call it, but then half way through this plot is rarely mentioned and it doesn’t get any proper ending. I found it really weird how grown up university guys were so excited and happy about this whole BL fiction that was written about them by some freshman-year girl. Onlyone who was against it was her brother Zon. His whole plot with Saifah was so cringey at first but by the end I actually prefer them to the main couple. I can honestly say that there were moments when I really thought that this series is a parody about fanfiction writers… Then there is a FighterTutor relationship storyline, that is such a cliche. It is so predictable that it is quite boring. Also their love is so overly sexualised that I felt a little bit uncomfortable watching it. Especially in later episodes…

And then there are sooo many supporting actors and actresses who are all put in a relationship with each other. I barely managed to remember their names! Who R they? I really didn’t see any point in most of these characters.

It also didn’t help that the acting was quite poor in my opinion. I actually liked Seng’s acting the most and he was just a supporting actor! His scenes felt the most natural to me. Honestly I would have loved to watch a show about Tanthai and Japan relationship instead of the two main couples we got. Zee’s acting is something I haven’t been able to get into ever since I started to watch shows with him in them. I just can’t enjoy his acting for some reason. As for Saint, I did like his acting, but it was nothing extraordinary.

Second thing that didn’t help this series was bad cinematography and editing. There was waaaay too much usage of slow motion and repeating a scene for dramatic sake. Whoever thought that adding these weird anime/comedy sounds to this series was a good idea, should not be let near another series. There was toooo much of it! As a foreign viewer I was also annoyed about the subtitles that were a mess for a couple of episodes at the beginning. Luckily they managed to fix this problem. Then there were some weird black screens between scenes in later episodes. Why? Also the soundtrack wasn’t anything special.

I would never watch this series again - once was more than enough. As I understand, people either love this show or heavily dislike it. I guess I am leaning more towards the second. But you can watch it and decide for yourself, but be ready for a lot of confusion :)
