Cute for what it is

I found this drama from edits online, which were just the cutest so I was excited to watch it. And it definitely delivered on the chemistry of the main leads. Of course the trope of high school classmates/first loves meeting again is over done, but they made it fun to watch. Even their fake/contract relationship came about okay.

Just from watching the show you can see they didn’t have a big budget, but that shouldn’t hinder from writing a good story. It felt like all the scenes was just to move the plot forward without much substance. It felt choppy and rushed. Even them suddenly getting married without ever really dating and didn’t even properly date AFTER they got married felt so weird. The actors definitely had the chemistry to make some magic from a badly paced script. The ending does make me forget the bad parts, that kid actor was so so loveable! + love the greenest flag but naughty scheming ML.

Hope we get to see the main leads in a better written drama in the future.

The haters are crying hehe!

I like how it had lots of representation as well as diverse gay men (some stereotypical and non-stereotypical portrayals). The story was really well paced, I was surprised by good character growth in just 2 episodes, and the cinematography + lighting was just MAGICAL. All the actors did so well, I was fully immersed in every scene. Even the balance between comedy, happiness, cutesy and sadness was so good. Everyone should give this a chance.

KDRAMA OF THE YEAR!

I think everyone should watch this, like just put it on and you’ll be hooked from the first 10 mins. And ITS WORTH YOUR TIME! I didn’t know anything about the show except it was a Kang Full story, so I was so surprised to find the 1st epi being horror! And it was so well done, not in a jumpscare way but in an eerie-creepy way. The set design has a purpose, the camera shots have purpose, the shadows have purpose, EVERYTHING is so detailed and meaningful. If the first half is horror, the second half is dramatic and romantic. Everything you thought was scary, is actually the most sweetest and purest thing. To accomplish that shift for every character is just great writing and acting. You will cry for the last 2 episodes. It’s so bittersweet but beautiful. The final shot is ART (and an arrow to my chest like whyyyyy is it so sad?)

Every character gets a full arc story with no loose ends (kinda - hopeful for more seasons). Almost all stories made me tear up at one point, but especially the rescue dog with the branch through it broke my heart, the bus driver drowning in his tears, the mom saving her daughter the way she was saved by her father (the cotton ball had me holding my chest) and ofc, Hyunmin & Jiyoung’s story was the saddest, I was sobbing and distraught.

Random but in the beginning I thought: hmm the set design for this lane/neighbourhood is so weird, it feels like a “set” with bad cgi rain clouds, it doesn’t seem realistic and BOOM there was a reason for that and now looking back I LOVE THE SET DESIGN AND CGI.

Morality vs Love

Came here for the plot and philosophy of euthanasia and got a nice dose of complicated romance. It was doomed yaoi from the start but I HAD HOPE! It was 0.5% but it was something! Tew’s inherent nature to doubt people and also his implied demisexuality slowed the pace of romance, but it came together for a big bang (figuratively and physically lmao) of their bittersweet ending. Kan was the centre of the show, he really pulls you in and I wasn’t bored for a second.

I think the story does a well balanced depiction of euthanasia and has characters for and against it. My only drawback would be exploring a case of a patient not being fully cognisant of authorising consent (it was almost there but not exactly what I’m talking about). It also showed how doctors/nurses can misuse/wrongly perform euthanasia without giving patients consent, dignity or peace :( but also had a fair share of lovely but sad cases where euthanasia was a god-sent for the critically ill. The last euthanising scene of Tew’s mom had me tearing up, just packed with emotions and GOD that last scene broke me. What a finale!

MORE DIVERSE GENRES OF BL PLZ!

I was so excited to watch a case-breaking prosecutor-investigator couple, enemies who were never meant to fall in love. The son of a murderer & the victim teaming up to solve their fathers’ case is such a yummy premise & it was executed really well. You can really understand Taeseon’s anger & need for revenge, realising Chaeha is also in the same hell & suffering worse than him. Yet Chaeha is inherently kind & timid, which melts Taeseon’s cold heart. The mystery solving of 5 random cases that are secretly linked was also detailed & interesting.
All the actors were amazing, big shout out to actress who played Jayoung! Yoonshik was oozing aura in every scene, especially the criminal questioning scenes (the rhythm of his line delivery was sublime). GIVE HIM ANOTHER LAWYER ROLE STAT! The cinematography was so so so good, I had chills (but FAWK the ai beach, that’s why I’m not giving this drama a 10/10. And I think the extremely short runtime doesn’t do justice to the novel & story). The director def had a VISION, the movement of scenes was so well through out. And ofc the intimate scenes are legendary. I’ve replayed the finger to mouth to mouth(!) part too many times to be normal. Real freaky shit by REAL FREAKS (the fckn handcuffs as a confession is MICHIN). The chemistry was through the roof, can we get a season 2? Pretty please?
