But when people use their own emotions to divert from the story and they start to interpret what happened and spend more time anticipating events rather than enjoying the ones happening. The issue of this situation is that the emotions they live become mostly frustration which can end in anger like it did for this drama. They don't understand why the letters were not given a closure for example. But It was given a closure. Just not the one they wanted so they did not want to see it.
We all watch drama for the different emotional states they take us throught: joy, anger, being upset, laughing like crazy, smiling like fool... but still it is good to keep it a nice and healthy experience.

I would agree with you if they used their reasoning abilities instead of their empathy. It was clear that HJP was not the main character and that the whole story was built around Dal Mi. Still they lived the drama like if he was the main character. They irrationally made that choice and when things did not happen like their wished, they started pointing their finger at the writer, director, Dalmi, Dosan, then the actors and the other users.
It is too easy to accuse others because of a delusion your own feelings put you in. Some people hated '' The Thing'' because of how it made them feel but the movie had its real own qualities which were finally logically recognized.
Start up is not a perfect drama but it is a good one for me if you watch it from the perspective of its main character from the get go : Dalmi. The writer made the SML too endearing but people making him their hero against the logic and against the story unfolding it was the mistake of these lovers of the SML syndrome. Some people really indulge themselves into this phenomenom.

Audience is not a judge of quality. The Thing from John Carpenter was a failure at the box offfice. Nowadays it is a classic of sci fi horror movies. Stars Wars ep VIII was a huge commercial success but it full of craps.
Regarding Start-up, it suffered a terrible situation. Plenty of people loved the child orphan and they made him the hero of the drama before episode 2.. After ep2 the adult version of him and his cute dimples won the heart of these people even more.
But the reality is the main character of this drama was not HJP. It was Dal Mi. It was all about her. She lost her mum and sister, she had no friends, she gained a fake penfriend, she lost her father, she was to go to her grandmother, the off voice telling the story is hers, she looked for her ideal boyfriend trying idiot dates, she schemed against her sister, she fought to find a better job, she had to know who she really loved...
It was all about her. She was the main character. DalMi did not give a damn about the letters after knowing her dear fake penfriend never existed. That's what she is. A boss. Not a deluded girl lost in some memories.
For me, this drama is one feminist drama where women, Dal Mi, Grand Ma , InJae, the woman former lawyer are resolute and make things happen. The male guys are just heir accessories.
The HJP fans have just misunderstood this drama. They watchedd it from the pespective of HJP like he was the tsundere male lead in a usual kdrama when he was just the 17th wheel fo the coach.
You might wanna google the main male actor after watching the drama..he he...
I dropped the drama because of him (and other things). He is an handsome guy but his acting skills were not very good for me. I hope he will improve but to me he is not ML material so far.
He will not become a huge star because of this. SML role. Mark my words.
He sure gained a lot of fans but he is still not in the charts of most loved South Korean actors, most well paid, most recognized, most talented. Most seeked to be on big screen. He still has a long way to go.

A good drama is one which does not take the audience by the hand and tells him '' see this is what I meant ''. A good drama gives hints and the audience will understand.
There was no need for a showdown between Dal Mi and HJP or Grandma about these letters. Dal Mi dealt with these letters by herself. And this is what made her a good and strong character.

Please do me a favor. Just block me. I wish I could block you but my blocking list is full of people like you already. People who have no argument but can only make personal attacks. Please just block me. Will you?
Somewhere something still good deep inside him likes her but the real him does not. And he knows the real him…
I think when he pretended to be a trainee he had some kind of affection for her but seeing how she was taking things against his group it was inevitable that they would clash. He was reluctant to be harsh on her but when she slapped his face it was the sign that they were enemies now.
I knew it was gonna be good because of who wrote it. I was not disappointed. But I have to commend Taecyeon the…
The evil character was way too unhinged, crazy, emotional, bipolar... Could never have won against Consigliere Cassano. For me, the acting of Ok Taec Yeon participated to this kind of grotesque character. In the end it was a decent performance from him but I was not impressed by his acting skills. I thought Kwak Dong Yeon was better imho portraying a more tortured and complex character.

Second lead couple looks more fun as they are more credible as an unexpected couple.
I think the backstory of ML and SML also plays a role. For me ML's back story looks very cliché when SML Backstory looks more subtle.
