His backstory is not really detailed, he just says he'd been there 14 years but if he were CP it would be 10 years not that big of a difference... Actually if you are at 17-ish the next few episodes already suggest Zhuyan is unlikely to be Ai. Do u remember which episode Changge talks about his upbringing? My friends kept crashing my binge sessions I missed some conversations I will try to re-watch that part.

Check out Love and Destiny. Its by the same director and set in the same universe. I always suspect that is actually Mo Yuan's story but they changed the names etc for copyright reasons. I dropped Eternal Love of Dreams but many people like it.

I don't rule out Changge completely he was always my top suspect because the marquis has close ties to Su Xuan who was then at his sect. The marquis could have brought the CP there regularly for martial arts training and I suspect the sect was subsequently involved in helping Su Xuan hide the CP. I also considered Duan Yan but his trying to get the the marquis in trouble makes no sense. I also still consider Mu Ying a possibility - he seems ambitious and entitled and his backstory is also ambiguous. I will be quite upset if it ends up some unknown person that we never see or if he is dead. That would be lame.

You know I realize why this actor didn't make it. He is very good and nuanced but his energy is lethargic not dynamic. I noticed that in both this and the last one.

I suspect the auto translate is translating sect leader/master as emperor. The missing emperor Ai is a legitimate contender to the throne since he was the crown prince. He is a threat to the current emperor and can be used by any of the powerful ministers/generals in the court to challenge the current emperor. So pretty much everyone is after him. He may be dead for all we know but if he isn't then he is likely to be one of the younger male characters in the show.

Looking less likely at where I am now (~24) but still possible. Probably should spoiler tag that.

LOL thanks for the big push - I usually get over these dislikes so I just put it on hold for now until I do. I didn't like the girl in NIF2 either but I think she is pretty great in Love a Lifetime so one day I am sure I will be able to watch YZ in something.

LOL - I was late to the party and no way I was gonna watch 70 episodes without reading a bunch of reviews spoilers and all so by the time I watched it I knew the ending was going to be bad and all the issues with it. I just love Ning Yi's character so much and he really kept evoloving while staying consistent at the core I was riveted till the bitter end. He is my favorite c-drama ML character, there is no competition whatesoever, I can keep rewatching him. I really hated the last ~5 episodes they were really bad. I am a happy person I don't go out looking for tragedies just to get a good cry but I don't avoid them either. What I was upset about was they murdered Fang Zhiwei both literally and figuratively (whom I love love loved). And yes, I reviewed it, it is kind of long but I had a lot to say about it. I believe I read yours because I think (?) you mentioned the long hair there too... would have loved to have seen the real rant version!

Well Allen Ren should have a few more good years as lead in him... Also to be honest, I dunno how anyone is gonna be able to write a character that tops Ning Yi for Chen Kun... ROP is the only drama I ever started rewatching immediately after I finished.

I missed that about Changge and agree he is the one more strongly giving off the vibe. It has to be one of the boys that age. The only other possibility (if he is still alive) is that he is Manqing's fiancee from the Mu family.
