Shelved dramas often will look dated but that is definitely not an issue with this drama. All the main leads are not only gorgeous but also good in acting. I'm also concurrently watching LQ's other drama My Dear Guardian and it just baffles me that LQ hasn't aged one bit. And, I'd like to repeat again that the main leads are gorgeous. I'm literally drooling

Whichever ending is fine. As long as it makes sense. Especially for this drama i'm enjoying the process very much.

If you're into republican spy thrillers, you can try The Rebel with Zhu Yi Long. The script, acting, props are on point.

Fully agree that ep 1 was awful but it's getting much better once they are back in China.

Communism is just the back story. The drama actually is a spy thriller. I personally find this drama engaging, it shows the different perspectives from the fractions, the emotions people go thru and the plot twists are so far logical.

It's quite common. I've also discovered people copying comments and translations I made on the Soompi platform and posting it in MDL as their own contributions. These people should at least give credit to the original post.

Actually, I think Li Qin's acting is OK. It's just that her character can be annoying at times. But thats just the script. Apart from ep1, the rest of the show has been entertaining for me.

Glad that you brought it up. His styling is terribly outdated. And most of his suits look too small for him (look at his shoulder area).

Ya the storyline has many plot holes and some tropes are cringe worthy to watch (like the polo training and match) but I'll continue watching because the acting per se of MLs and supporting casts are not bad. It's a waste, with a better script this could have been much better.

XXM borrowed Hanchen brother's sword to use it as a prop for a ritual dance but lost it in the process. The head maid wanted to use the loss of the sword as a reason to severely punish XXM but before she could do that Hanchen kicked XXM out of the manor. Partially because he was really upset because she had lost the sword but also to protect XXM from being tortured by the head maid. XXM went back to her cousin's place feeling sad/guilty and Hanchen starts to reflect on what his sifu told him about joining him to the battlefield.

Ep 16: glad that they are finally separated and that there is an end to the repeated misunderstanding and make up cycle. Hopefully they will grow individually and remarry under better circumstances as balanced and mature persons.

I totally agree with you.

Watched 2 episodes and so far it has been amazing. The cinematography is breathtaking (seriously some scenes look like scenes from lord of the rings or James Bond), acting, props and action scenes are all very realistic and the script is tight and exciting (no fillers and plotholes so far). Appreciate the level of detail in this show too, eg all actors look sunburned and they feature real locals. The only minor grumble I have is Qin Chuan's smart ass personality but that is part of the plot and I'm sure he'll go thru significant character development in the coming episodes. Each episode is about 55 mins with 8 episodes in total, which it's not too long for Cdrama standard.
