The webtoon, which the drama is based on directly uses Yeonsangun as the ML, but in the drama they probably changed his name cuz they didn't want to get into any controversy

I feel like I've said this many times already, but Chaemin's acting!??! I know he caught flak for being young/inexperienced (esp compared to Yoona), but he's surprisingly holding his own here. Sageuks are known for making or breaking someone's acting as the tone and diction are really challenging to master, but his acting isn't awkward at all.

The ML isn't the one cheating, its the trash initial BF of the FL (which is a short plotline in the very beginning)

Your problem was thinking 8.8 on MDL = masterpiece. That's not what I've observed.
Looking at Douban is a more accurate rating of Cdramas ngl (other than propaganda shows lol)

I think it's a decent show, but 8.8 is definitely too high (tbh it'll probably even out after it finishes airing). I wish they had touched on 1. longer, like his torture/trauma, but it ended up being just a passing plot point... + I went into this show looking for a gritty, serious FL, not a cutesy one I can't imagine as a general (although her action scenes are pretty fire). It's a pity because I feel like Zhou Ye could pull it off, but her acting in some scenes has been off... I blame the script lol. I'm hoping that Cheng Lei's upcoming drama (Shadow Love) is better at least
