also does anyone think the new villain guy (or boy.. because he looks about 12 lol) is hilariously overacting?…
He's young (born in 2005), cut him some slack...I think he's intense in those scenes and did rather well (he's supposed to be a sicko/lunatic after all) Lin Mu Ran is a child actor and has mostly been playing the younger part of lead actors all those years (I remember him from 'Nothing but You'...he played young Wu Lei 's character over there)
What you wrote about other people's opinions is deplorable! There's so much hatred and contempt on your part,…
'Pursuit of Jade' is breaking records left and right and is highly popular at the moment...no wonder its lead is being embroiled in controversy...it's always the same shit, the moment you become a little popular and is loved, haters start their witch-hunt/smearing campaign to cancel you (looking for every tiny things to bring you down)
Chen Zhe Yuan was dragged for being too greedy (billings wars when his agency is probably the one at fault), Chen Fei Yu got hit by a so called adultery scandal (lost roles because of that despite him being cleared at that time), Deng Wei has been slandered and targeted by rival fandoms after 'Lost You Forever' (digging his past and all...receiving death threats *crazy I know*), Bai Jing Ting (stealing the central position🙄), Cheng Yi (2020's 'Love and Redemption' controversy with him allegedly refusing the fanservice) and I could go on forever...
Actresses aren't spared either: Wang Chu Ran (backlash during 'Fireworks of My Heart'), Chen Du Ling (everyone remembered the 'Green Tea' comments🍵🙄), Esther Yu, Zhao Lusi...
That's C-entertainment for you. Same goes for K-ent (dating is a scandal? --->Lee Jae Wook/Aespa Karina - her fans weren't happy with the news, they didn't last), mysogynistic remarks (Yoo Yeon Seok and Park Seo Joon are still called out for that in 2026) etc...
For all the sanctimonious, holier than thou people:
Let the celebrities breathe for God's sake. They owe us nothing aside entertainment (+he apologized. What do you want more? Breaking News: Humans aren't perfect, deal with it). Don't like their rl personality? Leave it but don't engage in troll activities, that's disgraceful and unproductive.
So I don't know much about Deng Kai but I have a feeling I might end up liking him.
I really like Deng Kai despite him always playing the villains. First time I saw him was in 'The Blood of Youth'. He was also in the underrated 'The Wanted Detective' with Wang Xing Yue and Julia Xiang. He's a charming actor✨️
Qi Yun Ke is my no. 1 suspect to be the MIB, I mean he's not developing a normal love towards FL's Aunt, he's…
And it's utterly underwhelming imo...way too predictable 🙄 It would have been so much better if it was let's say the Healer Lei for example. He's a mysterious, aloof and composed character...that would have made an awesome twist.
Maybe for the same reason it flopped terribly in China? these days you can't convince audiences with mediocre…
Drama isn't perfect indeed but *no offense* (and to each his own) you can't possibly say such thing when you gave a 9/10 to 'Sword&Beloved', one of the worst and biggest disappointment of last year (and I'm a huge fan of Cheng Yi , Li Yi Tong and Chang Hua Sen) Truth to be told, the casting was the only good thing about this drama. I even decided to blacklist/avoid those scriptwriters from now on (one of them has written the disastrous 'Love and Crown' as well)
As for me, I like it very much and I'm pretty impressed by the ensemble cast for the moment (great performances from most of the cast imo+ Zhou Yi Ran confirmed he's one to watch in the future and Bao Shang En is doing a good job as Cai Zhao)
My only gripe is with the length of this drama tbh. The 40 episodes limit is really killing the flow of those series. Wuxia/Historical/Xianxia need world building. Without it, most viewers are confused/lost and feel disconnected from the story (character development and entire arcs are sacrificed/editing is choppy/it lacks emotional charge etc...) Only modern dramas are benefiting from this regulation in the end imo (30 episodes is more than enough for those kind of shows anyway)
It's Zhou Yi Ran's real voice...he's dubbing himself here.🤷♀️
Noticed you watched 'Twelve Letters', another work of his...and it seems like you kinda enjoyed it since you gave a good rating. You probably started 'Generation to Generation' because of him, am I wrong?...I don't understand what's your problem with him now...did you dislike his acting or voice in 'Twelve Letters'?
Happy Birthday Wei Wei!!🎂🎈🌟 I miss you so much in dramaland🥲 Can't wait for 'The Legend of Rosy Clouds' and 'The Days of Seclusion and Love' to release🤞 (it takes like forever to see you on my screen again😿😿) Wish you the best for your special day! 🍀😘 Diamonds will always stand by your side💎💜
Elizabeth Bennet didn't know much about Darcy's real character either, she just assumed he was a prick because of hearsay if I remember correctly... That's why it's named Pride and Prejudice😉
