Why 'terrible country'? Every country has its pros and cons, nothing is ideal... China has many good sides too...…
No worries! Yes I agree too. His contract officially expires on January next year which is why I mentioned it. I just hope there'll be good news and he'll have more freedom in choosing his projects and activities! Happy holidays to you and family too ❤️
so the "special episode" points to unfinished business which the Ml, still alive, would be carrying it…
For original scripts (non-IP), it's normal for producers to want to make more money with a second season if the first season is successful. The thing is whether Cheng Yi wants to accept or not. Cheng Yi will consider it based on the script itself. If Cheng Yi doesn't accept, the producers/screenwriter may try to use another actor as Xie Huai An and maybe give a reason like his face was disfigured or burned and he had to had face surgery or something lol. Or the they might say that the person in the special episode is not Xie Huai An at all.
I feel like the special episode was set up to be vague on purpose so that it paves the way for Season 2. They can twist this vague special episode into anything. Personally, I cannot imagine Season 2 without Cheng Yi.
Interesting detail that I saw some Chinese fans mention. In the earlier episodes where Qing Yi and Liu Ziyan (Huai An's uncle) were talking, they mentioned a doctor who treated a swordsman. That swordsman is Ye Zheng, that we know already, but that doctor is the beautiful lady doctor that appeared in the latest episodes.
Why was XHA prisoned and what mission was in the letter and what was in that bottle?
This is my guess if that person is indeed Xie Huai An. Xie Huai An is an extremely dangerous person due to his intelligence. Many characters such as Xiao Wuyang, Yan Fengshan, and Wu Zhongheng have said this before. In times of peril, Huai An's intelligence is of useful to the Emperor but in peaceful times like the ending, Huai An's intelligence may be a huge threat. It's just like when Wu Zhongheng was "imprisoned" by Yan Fengshan. But I don't know if this makes sense lol. My other guess is that Xie Huai An self-detained himself.
Regarding the letter and bottle, they are probably setting it up for Season 2. The bottle may contain medicine to heal Huai An's burns on his face or something.
Some other theories I saw on weibo is that despite the voice sounding like XHA, the person being imprisoned is not XHA but Season's 2 MC. Xie Huai An and Wu Zhongheng both perished in the fire.
It very much looks like they are setting up for Season 2. However, most likely Xie Huai An won't be the MC anymore…
First, it is unlikely that Cheng Yi will choose to act in the sequel (if there is one). He seems to me like the kind of actor to move on to new works. I could be wrong though.
Second, the special episode purposely did not show the face of the person being detained. If that person is indeed Xie Huai An, I feel like they might set it up as Xie Huai An got disfigured in the fire and had to change his face or something. Then another actor will take the role.
SPOILERRRRR: hi, okay will there be a season 2 based on the special episode? I feel like it might based on Xie…
It very much looks like they are setting up for Season 2. However, most likely Xie Huai An won't be the MC anymore or there'll be a different actor for XHA.
The reason for cutting down the episodes is censorship related.
Hushhh... We have to wait 1 year.... to see ChengYi again....😮
Yep unless a miracle happens and whatever issues that Hero Legends has will be resolved. Liang Jing Shi Wu Ri is still filming now so most likely it will only air in 2027.
This year has been extremely busy and difficult for Cheng Yi. Even though there's no drama of CY that'll be aired next year (unless Hero Legends receives approval), I'm happy that he can finally take a break from the spotlight. I wish for Cheng Yi to be able to leave that terrible company, receive more good scripts and act in dramas of his own choice! Hope that he can also have a good break after filming Liang Jing Shi Wu Ri.
This drama was the highlight of my holidays. I'm quite sad that it ended. Thank you to all the cast and staff for producing this quality drama! It's certainly not perfect and has some flaws but overall, I love how most characters (including the antagonists) were written and how the plot played out. From the start, I knew it wasn't a simple revenge drama because otherwise it wouldn't be able to air on CCTV-8. I have learnt many life lessons from this drama.
My most favourite part of this drama has to be the characters. Some of the characters are so unique that I don't typically see them in other cdramas. There's probably not a male lead/protagonist like Xie Huai An in cdrama history or a warrior emperor like Xiao Wuyang or a deposed emperor like Xiao Wenjing. I also really like Gu Yu, Han Ziling, Bai Wan, and Pu Nichuan. Even the antagonists like Wu Zhongheng, Yan Fengshan, Su Changlin, Wang Pu all have different stories. Fantastic job to all the actors who really put in the effort to portray their characters well!
My only regret is that there are so few episodes for a plot like this. I'm not sure why the script was condensed into 32 episodes and then further shortened to 28 episodes due to censorship. I do think that there are definitely some aspects of this show (e.g., Wu Zhongheng's past) that could be fleshed out more if we had more episodes!
Nowadays where 90% of cdramas are adapted from novels, The Vendetta of An is truly a rare gem. If the screenwriter decides to polish up the script a bit more and include the stuff that were removed into the novel, I'll definitely read it! I'm already planning on rewatching the drama to see if I missed any details.
EDIT: If this drama were to be adapted to a novel, I definitely want to see how Huben Army was formed by Liu Ziwen. Like a prequel or something! I think Liu Ziwen's story would be quite interesting too.
I love the scene between the Xiao brothers even though Xiao Wenjing stabbed his brother. Xiao Wuyang is too good, even after being stabbed once, he couldn't bear to retaliate against his younger brother which led to him being stabbed another time 😭. He also understood Xiao Wenjing's difficulties, gave him advice, and not blame him. To Xiao Wenjing, it was either the Tiemo people forcefully invading with the country and people getting destroyed in the process or surrendering to the Tiemo people as a puppet emperor. Both ways are terrible but Xiao Wenjing chose the one that may be less physically damaging to the country/people. But I hope that there's a bigger plan behind his actions.
Also, I can't help but wonder if Xiao Wuyang and Xiao Wenjing weren't born into the royal family, would they be able to live like normal brothers in a happy family? The scene where Xiao Wuyang stared at the happy family eating and smiled at the little baby made me think that he does really want to be in a normal, happy family 🥺. The baby probably reminded him of Xiao Wenjing since the brothers have a big age gap.
I thought the shopkeeper was very sus when he kept staring at Xiao Wuyang nervously and didn't eat the food that he prepared for Xiao Wuyang. There was no logical reasoning for my suspicion but I got trauma from the other betrayals 😅. Glad that the shopkeeper is a good guy after all. He respected Xiao Wuyang (the emperor) too much and didn't know how to act around him.

The creator captioned this as "This is Zoo's original MV" 🤣

He and Zhang Mo (the real one) are so kind...
