I think it has more to do with Jiang Hu & Ye Yu being strangers at first and JH killing YY’s prey. JH is a cold man who keeps his distance,due to his past trauma so it makes sense he didn’t want YY to get close to him. Even that,Ji Niang still didn’t have a chance with JH as he only saw her as family.
