Shannigans

I saw no comments on this... But does someone have an explanation for why/how they were able to talk on the phone at the end? Are we just supposed to suspend all logic at that point, and run with it?

I enjoyed this drama, and didn't mind the 'twist' ending, but this one plot point irked me...
