I don't know the source material, but I really liked this show. I might have not been perfect (nothing really is), but I enjoyed it immensely.
The NC scene was good for me, too. I thought the editing with the flashbacks was kinda refreshing. I found it not too explicit, but I'm used to the latest thai shows. :)

Now, where do I find a new show of similar quality? 🙈 I guess I have to start rewatching all the jap/kor/tai BL again. 🫠
