There are now, it's evolving really fast in China and now there are Chinese BLs with kissing scenes and open gay relationships. "Blue Canvas of Youthful Days" and "Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island" are proper BLs from China.
Am I the only one who didn't like it :( the pacing was all over the place, like sharply cutting from one scene…
I agree. I didn't dislike it but yeah the pacing felt weird, as if after episode 4 the writers remembered that they needed to develop the story and the characters. It led to the three last episodes being very packed and confusing, going into different directions and with sometimes scenes being unrelated to each other. And just like you I felt a lack of chemistry. Visually this bl is refreshing and unique, it has a great cinematography and a beautiful atmosphere, and the actors all play very well. But in terms of content it's quite confusing and not consistent.
yeah no this isnt my cup of redbull i like the mc in the first 2 episodes the rest were boring for me he was the…
The series takes a more realistic approach on gay relationships than most of other BLs, it is less fantasized and romanticized. This is why many people didn't really like it imo. But the series gets better episode after episode, as Yeong will make new encounters and evolve in life.
They are both very good and worth watching. Though the series focuses more on love stories while the movie is more focused on friendship. Also the series has a realistic take on the life of a gay man, which is different from most of other BLs who have fantasized and romanticized stories.
Overall I felt the show didn't do good in terms of making them shoot interesting scenes that would ask them to bring out their best acting skills. Also it didn't give everyone a chance to be in pair with every other candidate and therefore to see if they can find a good acting chemistry. And I wished we had some post-interviews at the end of the last episode, I wanted to know how Chris felt, how Chien Yu felt, how Pink felt and who Robert chose.
However I love the candidates, their friendship and the way they cared for each other, this is to me what saved the show. Plus Yi & Adson form a good pair together so I'm glad they ended up chosing each other. Adson seems to be a very talented actor with a lot of potential.
