Lol the novel itself didn’t have many kiss scenes, more of a mature slow burn romance shown through little gestures, but we will get some soon. In fact i think the drama added more than what we got in the novel
Is Xiao Jue and his brother in good terms? I mean like does he got good familial relationship?
Yes XJ is awkward with his family in general because he grew up outside of their home (training hard with his shifus - something his father arranged so XJ could take over as the heir in the future since Xiao Jing is more of a scholar and not physically fit to be a general).
But despite that XJ really cares about his family and has a good bond with his bro
So this is way off track but I was curious, about the episode with the love bridge, did Song Tao Toa and Cheng…
STT and CLS never got together, like our other friend here commented - they were on the same page about breaking off the engagement. She ended up marrying HY’s brother (from HY’s second life) named He Yun Sheng - this character was removed since there is no rebirth in the adaptation.
Lol the He siblings shared similar features and STT fell in love. Fun fact, STT didn’t know about HY’s female identity til much later so she was truly in love with HY.
I don’t understand why He Rufei hates He Yan so much and feels entitled to the merits He Yan has earned? Or…
At least in the novel, if I remember correctly, it’s because HY took the liberty of joining the army etc under his name. Being in the battlefield wasn’t his life goal so when he took back his name he had to continue the life he didn’t choose. But ofc he was also greedy and ended up liking the fame and fortune, he didn’t want to lose it. Knowing she was still alive and talented, it threatened him. Time was not on the drama’s side to dive into every character’s motives and development, so may feel superficial
Lol the author liked to play with our minds. He was an interesting character in the novel actually. Unfortunately…
He was very good in MJTY, I watched that before this just because I hadn’t watched any of his works at that time. ZY impressed me here, she worked hard on those action scenes and it paid off, and we get to see more of her acting range.

Agreed! They could’ve done it like Lost You Forever (but I heard this was not a high budget series?). It’s a shame, and I have to remind myself to treat this as a standalone drama because as a novel reader I obviously couldn’t not have expectations.
But regardless I am glad it at least came out despite the delays, and it seems like many ppl (who didn’t read the novel) are enjoying it very much. But also appreciate those like you who are feeling similarly and are sharing your thoughts

Yeah it’s not enough, but with 36 eps that’s all they could do I guess. There was more development in the novel, things made more sense there. Tbh they should’ve just focused on the main characters if there was no time for the supporting ones (but then we probably would get complaints on that too). I wish the 40ep rule was abolished before they made this series 😭
Maybe it’s the script, maybe there’s too much going on to fit everything well into 36 eps, but the show’s…
It’s a shame. I can overlook some things since I read the novel (which helped me fill in the gaps) but there literally isn’t time to develop the characters and plot (so many of the side stories feel random with no proper intro or ending).
I appreciate the effort to squeeze in as many characters and plot events as possible, but they have to balance that with the limited time they have.
Continuing mainly because the leads have great chemistry and the effort put into the action and choreography
Lots of similar names lol; He Yan, Yan He etc. lol

I don’t remember HY going back to her childhood home in the novel. I can’t even believe the audacity of HRF…
She did go back, well snuck in actually (with XJ). They went through the dog hole she dug out to sneak out when she was a kid and secretly went to HRF’s room to find the locked box to find evidence to bring him down.
But despite that XJ really cares about his family and has a good bond with his bro
