I believed marrying ML. won't take away FL's freedom and she can still continue to do what she is currently doing still, except that ML won't be as calculative in money as it will then be THEIR money.
Remember FL was offered to be ML's accountant? FL will be the one taking care of their money after marriage then.

Also, she will also be branded as the wife of Floral Envoy which is kind of political as compared to her current commoner status, which in turn means her noble status shall increase. Her husband came home drunk and kinda go mad crazy again. Ruined her broidery after he questioned her where she get the money to do this. Then he went on to ruin the broidery with scissors and throw it at her, calling her cheap. She probably had enough, took the scissors and stab him at his heart until he couldn't resist, then keep on stabbing him.

Fast forward, she gave a gift to Mudan for her new branch store opening, revealing this broidery (not sure how she fix it though) and a letter. Later we see her, admitting to the court that she killed her husband as her crime. Before she got sentenced for anything, she ponder upon her life as a (lowly) female in this world as she stab herself on her heart, dying before seeing Mudan and Fu with their eyes crying.

Why? If you watched since episode 1, you know that both Liu Chang and Mudan's cousin don't really respect the Floral Envoy. Liu Chang is only grateful to Jiang Chang Yang when it comes to him saving Mudan, but as a prideful man in terms of the woman of interest, Liu Chang has been thinking Floral Envoy is stealing her away from him because he has interest in her. In other words, Liu Chang has always been in constant denial that Mudan didn't want to come along with him due to external factors which include being the maid of Floral Envoy currently, instead of looking at himself and hearing her thoughts that she didn't want to be with him.

Mudan's cousin impression of Floral Envoy is of that corrupted official. Both of them are students of Master Xu, and their first scene together, they already don't have good relations. While Floral Envoy technically is of a higher noble status, but as a person and as a man, her cousin don't think that highly of Jiang Chang Yang.

Nothing is confusing I would say, but I find it totally entertaining as the "who offer higher price shall buy Mudan from me" is a tease, as pointed out by Chuan Yu and Fu when they were bystanders eating popcorn (Apples) while looking at that funny scene.

Idc what people say about this show being a platform for the contestants just to gain fame or anything (although we know it's kinda true) but I would like to have a date with Jang Theo just so that I can have a good memory from him even though no one probably ends up with each other.
