It is confusing because the characters are confused themselves.
They are drawn together because of their past lives and it seems that Shin Yu is more aware of it than Hong Jo. The red hand from the beginning is a clue to that. Once he meets her and she opens that box he is drawn to her but we are lead to believe it is because of a love spell. If I remember correctly it all starts to fall together in 12 . I could get past all of that because I liked the characters a lot, but what got me was Anna was at the wedding! She cost them three years and a baby and she was invited ?
