I've never thought of them as having a sincere relationship. if he loves her why is he bent on spending so much time with Hana and he never checks himself. It's so regular for these characters to have the feels for someone else when they have a vendetta ready partner ready to inflict all types of harm on the other person.

Ha Na was adopted. the family with the baby was her adopted family or foster family. Remember when the new parents came in they came on behalf of her dad who was a friend and colleague that died. she was handed over to the system, adopted and sent back because of the abuse.
