his kids are loving, caring, and respectful. As parents and spouses we can not always get the results we want.
The father is a well respected, hard working husband and father. the mother is ungrateful, looking for an easy ticket out of everything.
the father works for what he wants. he had every opportunity to ask Grandma for money but he hasn't because he prefers to earn his keep. that is where FL gets her willingness to work and not play underhanded tricks.
no person not parent is perfect.
I'm only on episode 12. if something happened after that where he could not give someone else what they wanted...I still stand on this opinion that he is a great husband and father.

Zhiming is making me uncomfortable with how persistent he is about Grandma handing him over the business. it feels forced and full of manipulation. I'm starting to doubt his sincerity to Grandma. and he has me wondering what is so pressing that he needs things handed over to him right now.
I finally have some empathy for our FL lead in ep 11. - She is showing more of the real her. I hope we have at least 3 episodes of them being a happy couple together.

I stopped watching in episode one. Right off bat there was so much going on. There are only 2 episodes released so I will wait until 4 or 6 are released. Because it will annoy the mess out of me to have to wait so long to find out whats really going on.

I get the low ratings. because people got away with their schemes and did not get punished. yeh, that will never fly in dramaland. the writer was too soft on the offenders.
it started off well. dragged for a long time the. when I thought we were getting somewhere they added new problems but haven't fixed any of the others. then there were a lot of unnecessary characters and issues this is when I started fast forwarding.
this series should have been 26 episodes...too much fluff

Preferring sons over daughters is a value issue . Everyone's values will not be the same even in the same cultural climate. All Chinese parents wont have the same values. Every Chinese person doesn't follow traditionalism, some step out of the box. This would not be considered your traditional Chinese household, they follow a more modern culture. (I'm not Chinese...lol)

I absolutely thought that she would apart ways with him. Lol, I was a little conflicted because if she did it would be understandable. but she is looking at the big picture. he serves a purpose for her long term plan and her heart.
commenters are wondering why the score is so low? I wasn't surprised. although, so far it's a good drama - the same tropes being repeated are tiring. FL's mother's character, mom encouraging her daughter to marry for wealth despite her possible unhappiness, tired of it. jealous coworker willing to destroy the company to get rid of competition, tired of it. Family members being high, mighty and disrespectful because of status, tired of it.
I'm watching Blossom in Adversity and I'm enjoying it so much because it lacks many distressing tropes.
however, I'm gonna give this one a try and see if it gets better.

enjoying a TV drama is more than just a well produced and written story. emotions and mental clarity play a part in it. if someone is stressed, dramas with vindictive and naggy characters won't appeal to them. They may watch this same series 6 months from now and enjoy it and rate differently because they are in a different mind space.
Also, maybe they just don't like it. Some people like Ranch dressing while others hate it. it's not that there is anything wrong with ranch dressing. the taster just doesn't like it, it's not for them.
stop calling people haters because they don't like what you like. This is a great platform to share our opinions but some people get burned by other commenters because they dislike something in a series or episode.
it's a TV drama, these dramas and ratings don't feed us, or earn us an income, so we shouldn't be so offended by them. Watch, comment and chill... 😂 my 2¢
