When I say this was unentertaining I honestly mean it was unentertaining. Maybe it’s just me but I was expecting so much more than what I got from the series. Initially I got a positive vibe from this series based on episode one. The first episode was very upbeat. Our female lead was outgoing , somewhat adventurous and most certainly smart. Our male lead of course was a younger individual as well and had not yet come into his full character yet. I decided to give it a go and I somewhat wish I had not. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t awful, it just wasn’t fun or fun to watch.
I will admit that the scenery, wardrobe as well as the music was perfect. I did pick up on some of the harmonic sounds from the story of Ming lan and I got a little bit excited however this is not the type to series. There was nothing witty about this series. No genius moves made. No outwitting anyone intellectually took place. There is nothing heartfelt about this series. There was nothing remotely romantic. That being said our two leads had zero chemistry. I can only assume that this has something to do with the writers attempting to depict real life events.
Well anyway there was zero chemistry. That had about as much chemistry as oil in water. There was no bickering but there was a sense of camaraderie. And what I mean by that is they each maintain their independent role. The female lead was honestly seen and treated as a colleague for the majority of the series. Truthfully speaking the emperor made an attempt to connect with our female lead in the beginning however for whatever reasons she did not appear inviting. So he merely gave up after a few tries and just honestly treated her like a coworker the entire series. I honestly am not exaggerating.
I waited so long for the Episode that somewhat reflected the synopsis of the series however I am currently at episode 45 in the series and I have yet to see our young princess meet her supposed future husband. At this point I’m not even sure if that’s going to show in the series. With all that said I think that they totally need to redo the synopsis of this series because it is absolutely misleading.

My honest synopsis about this series: it is about a man who became emperor and the empress that was chosen for him.
It most certainly reflects how they function as individuals because there was nothing remotely reflecting a power couple or team effort from them at all. What I saw was the empress making wise choices and the emperor making what he believe we’re wise choices. I no there were many comments about how he disregarded the empress and how she really cared for him but after watching 45 episodes and I honestly can’t see any of it. It’s more like two people accepted their fate and just chose to continue on how they were going. And that’s exactly what they did. I do believe that the series can actually cast without one of the leads and it will still be exactly the same.

If you’re looking for historical drama to watch you may like this one. However if you’re looking for something stimulating you won’t find it here. If you’re looking for something slightly romantic, you won’t find it here if you’re looking for something that is upbeat you will not find it here. If you’re looking for something heartfelt look someplace else you will not find it here. With that being said I understand it is so easy to get sucked in by the image that is portrayed with the series and also the cast members but be warned there is no chemistry between our leads, no warmth, heartfelt moments, no witty things, no genius plotting. FYI, there is one crazy concubine who is generally allowed to act the way she likes but that too is not cute. Not in the least. Also I am convinced that empress will live her life as a virgin empress, no kiss, no real hug. Nothing. Just so sad.

Completed the series, something happened but it was still sad. The last 10 episodes are more entertaining but sad too.

It was an okay series. Maybe a good filler while waiting on your favorite show to aire. It has some good elements to it such as the supporting cast but I just couldn’t get into it. I finished the series but that was because I forced myself too. The FL just gave me negative vibes by her actions from episode 1. From episode 1 to 18, I watched this catch chases mouse game. She was somewhat resistant to the end which maid the progression of the relationship nonexistent.the acting wasn’t bad, the story itself wasn’t terrible but the FL was too much for me. I kept wishing he’d move on.

Exciting

I don’t regret watching this. I’ll admit, I was hesitant because some reviews mentioned inces(brother and sister relationship) however, that didn’t actually happened. This is definitely one the first jdramas I’ve watched that had a twist like this. I loved that the female lead wasn’t a complete idiot unlike many jdrama characters. The internal conflict felt so real. Each cast did an amazing job portraying their character well as well as the anguish they felt. Overall a good series. Exciting and engaging.

Good drama but very slow. Some say it’s romantic, But I say it simply embodies love. This isn’t one of those youthful romance dramas. It’s more like a family drama with issues in the love department. You’ll get cheating spouses, divorce, unrequited love, birth secrets and plotting. This is not a favorite for me due to the length, pacing and nature however I must admit that it is definitely mature. You cheated, okay, sign the papers I’m out. Not draggy pleading in that department but you’ll get some discomfort with the lack of retribution. You get the sad reality which is people stay in relationships or are forced into them all in the name of keeping things together. I really expected something grand or the ending to be pow!

What I liked most was that it was down to earth and somewhat natural. The situations were relatable and at times touching.
What I disliked is that they didn’t expand on the leads relationship or the simple fact that it just seemed to lack chemistry. The FL had a neutral or depressed look on her face 90% of the time.

Would I watch it again? Not on purpose.
Is it worth reviewing? Not particularly.
Any climatic moments? Nope.
Is it swoon worthy? Nope.

Perfect

This is by far one of the best C-Dramas I have ever watched. From beginning to end, I was entertained. The acting was amazing. The writing was amazing. The scenery, wardrobe and vibe were all exceptional.

Chemistry: yes, yes and yes. It was resent and it was beautiful. The leads not only looked great together but they each had charisma/flare that just blew this out of the water.

Acting: awesome. The acting didn’t feel like acting. It felt real/genuine. That’s how great it was. They played their roles perfectly.

There was action, mystery, plotting, love, sweetness overload, family drama, war drama. It had it all and they did and making job pulling it all together. I must say it was really refreshing to get a brave and smart female lead as well as a smart male lead. I totally got the “yanxi palace/minglan wits/smart” vibe from our leads and boy was a it great.

Although there is talks of fighting/ war, this series encompasses the human elements, the rebuilding and the restructuring of what’s right.

This is a rewatch for me. In fact, it just finished and I’ve already went back to a few episodes. Even the music was good.

I highly recommend this.

I have not reviewed anything for a while but I thought I’d just add my tooth in about this one. It was honestly just OK. And while it wasn’t a horrible series I feel like it wasn’t good either. I could understand some of the emotions in the series but I just feel like this was a real dud. The ending was ridiculous. It had that cliché let’s break up and run into each other again and some years, then the end. After all of that it really seem like the female lead didn’t grow much. The supporting cast had better chemistry, better ending and a more intriguing background and story. It truly feel flat.

Refreshing

I really enjoy this series. This is one of the few films made in Thailand that I have really enjoyed it and felt it was sort of exciting. The acting was great and it was actually not overexaggerate which is often common today. The plot was most certainly interesting and engaging. You will get a mixture of action, comedy, romance and a little bit of mystery. All of which come together for a perfect series that will keep interviewer happy. I recommend this to anyone looking for a strong female lead with a blend of the Thailand historical culture as well as present. And if you’re looking for a good laugh with some action you will not be disappointed.

Not possessive male lead but certainly psychotic. Not cute.

Long story short. They series is the embodiment of Stockholm syndrome with pretty decorations. To elaborate, a guy who is overprotective of his sister wants to make her happy, so he decides to entrap the woman who is a threat to it.
In the process of this he manipulates the situation which interns forced her into a relationship which she try to escape, literally, like trap on an island type escape, at every turn. The writers attempted to make this a romantic series because they possibly thought the concept was cute but this was the most toxic thing that I have ever seen.

Biggest spoiler below: be warned

Imagine your boyfriend cheats on you and impregnate someone else. He is apologizing to you and trying to get back into a relationship with you. The side chicks brother decides to force the guy to stay with his sister. To do that he lies and slander’s you in front of your parents to entrap you into a relationship with him so you are no longer available to date your ex. He likes you up or keeps you in a place where you have no idea where you are, limit your contact with anyone on the outside and acts like you were actually in a relationship for real. All this happens while you are seriously trying to get away. In the process of you trying to get away he charms you enough to make you like them. And then you escape and he comes for you and we get a happily ever after. What a load of garbage. This is so many forms of a legal I can’t even begin to describe it. Yes we see stuff like this all the time and historical films but this is stuff that actually happened during that error this however is so toxic it is awful.

Forced marriages is something that I have watched often in many series but never one on this caliber where the individuals movement is restricted, contact with others is limited and they actually feel trapped, manipulated, played and isolated. It was like a lifetime show or snapped with a happy ending.

I really enjoyed this drama. It had the perfect balance of everything. The relationships seemed to develop well, not being rushed. The relationship between the sisters was so amazing, you could only smile. Yes, you will get your fill of cooking scenes while watching it but the relationships and events come together so well. We don’t have the extremely wicked people although you’ll have some schemers. The writers did a great job. The cast played their rolls well. There were cooking scenes, fight scenes, family scenes, unity scenes and more. In truth, I loved the fact that the 2 sisters were supportive, loving. They were both fierce but good, smart women.

What I like most about this series was that it was entertaining and the relationship between or 2 leads was great. There was no crazy misunderstandings or ridiculous breakup Just development and you know the rest. It was sweet to see the love, support and loyalty. There were no overly immature characters (LOVED THIS). I really am tired of seeing this series with Married female characters who act Like they’re 13 years old. Our lead was a mature, young adult which was pleasant.

Do I recommend it? Yes, yes, yes.
Is it sweet? Yes

Here we have the typical rich male lead with psychological trauma and the somewhat poor female lead that helps him get better. For me it was definitely lacking. Series is titled “about is love” but there was nothing lovely about it. There was no romance, no actual relationships existed. There was three potential couples and no one actually got together until the last 3 or 4 episodes.

Positives: the male lead is not so mean, family dynamic is different, the friendships were awesome.

Negatives: cliche, poor closure, chemistry is off, FL was a college student that seemed very childlike when dealing with issues (ex: running off when someone she likes, likes someone else. Add this with the other poor decision making skills).
. And my most hated thing: evil/hateful person for 27 of 30 episodes forgiven in 5 seconds without consequences. Unanswered issues.

It’s not awful but not great. I can’t recommend this as a romantic series. If you prefer strong FL, I will say she has some attributes but not enough to count. If you want a smart and mature FL you won’t like it. Like I said her personality seems extremely childlike. Male lead was arrogant, but redeemable. He was mature.

The title of the series absolutely matches the series itself “cruel palace.” I would say that this series like many other historical dramas that surround the palace life such as emperors and all of his concubines is about the same. The only significant difference that I saw in this is that the logic of our female lead was off. What I mean by that is her hate really didn’t make sense. Usually with the dramas like this there was some serious things that happened to the character and you know why and somewhat understand why they became evil but with this one it seem that they took a small incident and made her vengeful. In truth I couldn’t power through all of the episodes. I watched what I feel was a significant amount and then I skip to the end. Bottom line or female lead wasn’t the craziest of a concubine that I’ve seen but she was definitely one that did some of the strangest things I’ve seen. I assume that the ending was fitting for most especially if you didn’t like the female lead.

If you’re looking for historical romance I would not suggest this one but if you’re into historical dramas and I do mean dramas lot plotting, murdering and scheming you may like this one. No fairy tale ending, no redemption (I.e bad guy turns good) nope.

I have no idea what a series has such a low rating. It is so worth the watch. I’ve watched several series that have revolved around war time and family but I think this is by far the best one. It was absolutely amazing. The chemistry among the leads as well as the chemistry among the supporting cast was absolutely amazing. There were so many darn heartfelt moments in the series it is impossible not to cry while watching this series. Although it is revolves around the war it also shows a great deal of love, loyalty, hardship, family and unity. This show absolutely has it all. I can honestly say there were very few things that I did not like about the series but those were few and far. The series follows so many cast members but still manages to stick to the story line and give the lead their time.
I wanted to point that out because it covers the female and her family and those individuals that are involved with her family. The writers did an amazing job with the roles of the supporting cast and chemistry among them all. I just find it absolutely amazing that everyone in the series had great chemistry in terms of relationships either family or romantic in nature. The old family feud and commitment to unity are revealed here as well. This is not just about war and fighting it is about so much more. I will say that what I took away from this was an individuals strength during hardship and also their ability to overcome hardships.

This was such a peculiar series. The synopsis is not wrong. I initially thought that it would somewhat different and be a bit more interesting than what I say but I really wasn’t. Watching it play out with interesting though. I must admit I found it somewhat strange but I can absolutely understand the thoughts and feelings of the leads. Unappreciated and alone she finds someone and takes him in. She literally treats him as a pet, not joking. What I found interesting about this behavior was that she was not truly treating him as an animal but as a companion. I felt that it was somewhat heartfelt because there are so many people who rely on their pets as companions or that person that welcomes them home. It really shows the need for relationships and the support and encouragement you get from them. Weird display but still very symbolic.

This series definitely keeps to the same vibe as season one. Although this seems to be another universe it really doesn’t give off the vibe of being another universe or anything of that nature. The vibe that I got was one in which someone has a memory of someone or a past life. Although it does not go into the whole past life thing, what you see is an individual that is somewhat drawn to Someone as if they’ve had a history together already but don’t really know why.

What did not change about this series is that its still the male lead that is in pursuit. Our female lead maintains her resistant roll for many many episodes but it gets better. I honestly like this ending a lot better and I also found this one to have a lot more humor in it than the first one.

The series revolves around are two male leads. One group someone pampered and the other one group living off the land. They differ completely in upbringing and beliefs. The beginning of the series starts off pretty fast pace and somewhat intense but after the first 15 minutes it slows done and there is a time gap.

Like many other series like this one this one is about to individuals on a mission to seek revenge however I do believe that that revenge plot is somewhat lost in the middle of all of these things that’s taking place. That being said it seem to be more about him learning martial arts then seeking revenge.

What I like most about the series is that it was generally upbeat and the cast members were often funny and memorable.

What I dislike about this series was that our male lead was cast as a simple/gullible/naïve individual. I do not mean slightly naïve and gullible but I mean over-the-top naïve and gullible. It was so bad that even at one point I got frustrated and started to ask why why why. It wasn’t enough for him to have a good character and I sense of loyalty but they made him into a complete idiot who seem to lack common sense of any kind. Our second female lead to guide a little less screen time was portrayed as a very lovesick and gullible person as well. For me it was really too much. I find it unrealistic and teetering on the extreme of these individuals needing a guardian because they don’t know how to make good decisions for themselves.

Action,yes
Comedy, yes
Romance, Ahn
Chemistry, ahn
Good ending, somewhat
Karma, not really.
Rewatch, no can
