This is the comment I was looking for. Thank you for explaining the frustration felt while watching this. i honestly thought I was the only one who was constantly irritated while watching this because everyone I saw seemed to be singing it’s high praises. I thought it was just me an my anger issues. I would like to watch a second season of a well written actual revenge against Yan Xun and romance between the Xing’er and Yuwen Yue but after all these years I gave up.

To this day I’ve never understood how this drama is so popular. It started out great, I absolutely loved it but then the misunderstanding trope started to thrive a little too hard and then half way through the focus shifted from the MC to Yanxun. It then became what some like to call Yan Xun’s revenge story. I really held out hope that it would get better and back on track but it never did and the ending, a huge cliffhanger. The frustration. What hurt most was the fact that Zhao Liying is one of my favorite actresses but God I hated her as Chu Qiao. Her character irritated me because of the constant misunderstandings she had with Yuwen Yue and the fact that for some reason out of everyone she decided to stay loyal to Yan freaking Xun but couldn’t trust and believe in Yuwen Yue????. Like damn it even a blind man could tell that Yuwen Yue had feelings for her and was protecting her. Then just as she was about to redeem herself boom a cliffhanging ending. what the hell????. Since then I don’t trust when people hype a drama up. because this was just irritating to watch for me. Anyway the ending broke my heart. It’s been 4 years since I watched it but even the title still frustrates me. Hope the next drama they act in together (coming soon) is better than this.

Can’t even begin to express how much I hated this drama. I hated it and every character in it (well it’s been years so I can’t remember most of the characters except Rong Le, ML and Evil queen). I only ever liked Luo Yunxi’s character (I honestly can never hate him after ashes of love. didn’t hate him then couldn’t hate him in this either and he did no wrong in this one) I cried so hard when he died. He was wronged and deserved better. Really couldn’t tolerate or forgive anyone after his death. like I hated the two leads before but after Rong Qi died, I loathed them. Especially Rong Le, my gosh she was so dumb it hurt to watch. I think I skipped some episodes just because I got tired of watching her be dumb. (keep in mind that this is my opinion, if you loved her character good for you but that wasn’t the case for me.) Her character irritated me to no end. Couldn’t stand it, dropped it multiple times before I decided to finish it. it’s safe to say that I’ll never watch this drama again.

It hurts me to say this but I’m not a fan of this drama. I feel it’s a little too overhyped. I watched it a while ago just after it came out and was so ready for all the hype it got but I was disappointed. Since it’s been so long I can’t even remember what I didn’t like about it all I remember is I half liked it and half hated it. And it hurts more because I actually love Zhao Lusi and Leo Wu and most of their works but this drama is one I won’t be watching a second time. No hate to those that loved it, I think it’s just up to personal taste and experience. I for one was mostly angry and irritated while I watched this hence the dislike.
