I like how they just naturally fell into their lowkey toxic–cosy relationship
Toxic-cosy relationship = Stockholm syndrome

She’s in love with his ass just because he’s nice? It’s not like he’s the only man in the world. Why the hell does she have to fall for him when there are plenty of other, better men out there? Just as I predicted, this is exactly how the sadomasochism genre works. He abused her in her previous life and harmed the people close to her (and of course, nobody including the so-called heroine cares about them). She was still in love with him even after everything she went through. Now that she’s been given a second chance, she wants to take revenge and “fix” him. But the moment he starts acting nice, she falls for him all over again. Sigh.

I truly hope she doesn't fall in love with him easily. I want her to get her revenge and then catch feels, maybe…
She will either fall in love with him quickly or she’s probably already in love with him, that’s one of the requirements of the genre.

FYI, sadomasochism is actually a popular genre in Chinese novels, often paired with tropes like the “wife-chasing crematorium” and the “black-bellied male lead.” I think they’re trying to copy Western dark romance or even BDSM.

This seems like a basic sadomasochistic drama where the female lead develops Stockholm syndrome and starts enjoying being tortured. But that comes at the risk of endangering people around her and even her own family. Who cares about them tho? People only think about themselves. The writer would probably justify everything by calling it a “misunderstanding” or by turning the endangered people into villains so they supposedly “deserve” it. Of course, the story would end with a happy-ever-after between her and her abusive male lead.

It’s hilarious seeing China find loopholes to release BLs lol. This one won’t get banned from Chinese platforms, they barely even showed his modern version and the actress can’t act well enough to make it convincing that a man is in a woman’s body. There were subtle implications that he’s gay, especially when he made the comment about “you don’t even know the gender” when the other dude talked about his crush.

I haven’t seen EP 2 yet but there are plenty of female CEOs in China (more than so called progressive western countries) , women don’t have problems with doing business there in modern times

When He Yan was training to be a general, she memorised scholarly articles but didn’t get any alcohol training?…
In the novel, her alcohol tolerance was high in her original body but after she died and was reborn in a new one, her tolerance decreased since the new body had never consumed alcohol.

I want to watch this drama, but the author is quite problematic. She’s colorist and shows strong disdain for dark-skinned people in all of her books. The way she portrays them is disgusting, along with her depiction of small ethnic groups in China, who are already marginalized. She portrays them as barbaric. I don’t want to support someone like her.

Title Coroner's Diary Spoiler
The ending ruined everything. They changed a lot from the novel, killing off characters who were alive in the original just for shock value. They took a pacifist approach with the villain. They didn’t even let Yan Ze kill him because of that approach, and due to Yan Chi’s intervention, Yan Ze ended up dying instead.

What kind of revenge is that when everyone believes the villain was a good person? His death felt completely undermined compared to the cruelty he committed. And then they made his son the emperor, which is exactly what the villain wanted. So he basically won.

Nobody knows he was the treacherous, fake emperor, and the people who actually tried to get revenge, like Yan Ze, had their names tarnished just to preserve the villain’s reputation. The main leads didn’t even get proper revenge, and most of the so-called “villains” in the story just ended up committing suicide.

Title Revenged Love Spoiler
There are millions of bl fans in china , they could've made a protest against them bit instead they chose to abuse…
Chinese BL fans can be so short-sighted. Many don’t seem to care if BL content gets banned, as long as they get to enjoy it in the moment. But I’m genuinely worried about the BL authors who are facing serious consequences. Dozens of BL authors (mostly young women in their 20s) have been arrested in China under obscenity charges, simply for writing fictional stories featuring gay characters. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c056nle2drno.amp

Weibo just banned the super topic for Revenged Love, which had over 280k followers. It seems someone in the higher-ups noticed how popular the show was among Chinese netizens, especially when compared to the expensive straight dramas, and they weren’t too pleased about it.
