actually i saw the poster yes, I would've been ok if they do this well but they shamelessly brought the genderless and looks like a female plot all the way over to the drama version instead of skipping it cuz WHY?? in the novel Su Mo actually hated Bai Ying and used her. In the novel she jumped from the cliff cuz he betrayed her. Afterward, he realized he actually fell in love with her and he starts having this internal fight with himself. A very important and emotional scene that u unfortunately wont see here. Also the endgame is Su Mo died for his ppl cuz unlike drama version, novel Su Mo actually cares about the well being of merfolks. Idk about the drama cuz this Su Mo clearly dont give a shit and only cares about himself *eyeroll*

Ma TianYu is masculine?? ur obviously new to chinese celeb cuz he's famous for being a "mei nan zi" and his crossdress in Sword of Legend is very famous for how much it looks like a girl. FINALLY!! Someone who read the book!! I was saying they completely missed the whole point of Su Mo and many of the reasons merfolks were treated that way. The original Su Mo is a NOT a nice guy. He approach Bai Ying with a purpose built on hatred and vengeance. He certainly cared a lot about his people and what is drama Su Mo doing?? Healthy and plump, he snucked into a cage holding merfolks cuz why? he feel like visiting Ru Yi? I thought he was gonna rescue them!! Thats what Su Mo would've done!! And the fact he didn't even give a shit about their well being pisses me off. Ugh!!

and the relationships between the 3 leads also got completely ruined. plus Bai Ying's character also got ruined too. what was so beautiful in the novel and anime was completely out the window from cliche tropes

but the they could still cast ppl like Luhan, Hou MingHao, or Ma TianYu cuz last i check they're not banned. quit with that excuse cuz this drama certainly was not filmed recently. dont give me ccp hate shit cuz "shi shang wu nan shi, zhi pa you xing ren"

i know and I should be used to it after so many adaptions but i still get frustrated!! Like couldn't they pick a better suited actor? cuz Su Mo is a trap character and in what way does Li YiFeng look like a trap? Maybe some like LuHan, Ma TianYu, or Hou MingHao would be better

now look at these photos from the anime version which is more accurate. Does Li YiFeng look like he has any relation to the young man and teenager in these photos?? On these, we clearly see a very feminine male and in Li YiFeng we see a masculine male. The novel very clearly states he's genderless and looks like a girl.

Well they could've change that a little and not include it but the director/script writer decides to DIRECTLY bring it over to the drama and keep him a genderless merman anyways?? the author is a very skilled writer but ugh 😑 this drama just ruins it. I want my Su Mo back. oh well i'll just stick to the anime version which is better

no, they do have a gender. it just.... in the original novel, Su Mo is born with face that makes it hard to tell if he's a guy or girl... but well i guess Li Yifeng just confuses u huh

Okay, as someone who knows a little of the original novel and seen the anime..... Li YiFeng looks like he has nothing to do with Su Mo.... some of the worst choice making ever.... Su Mo is a beautiful merman whose beauty makes ppl unable to identify whether he's a girl or boy, meaning the ML also radiate a feminine charm. Li YiFeng is no longer the him when he is SuSu... Like which part of his face looks feminine...?
