YunShen hates his mom right from the start in book.
No no, I mean in the novel. YunShen have always hated his mom since the start. In the book, when he married Zhu Jiu, he didnt even bothered telling her. In the novel, his mom and his dad fought on his birthday so YunShen went out to drink his sorrow away. Drunk driving caused the accident. In the novel, from start to end he retains a cynical attitude towards his mom. I have a feeling theres times in the novel where YunShen would've moved hands if it wasnt bc of his physical condition
Agree ππ there are too many cases in reality, sons abandon his parents just for his girlfriends/wife without…
He did NOT stay away to appease his mom. Stop trying to paint YunShen as a doormat. For fuck sake, please search up the consequences of losing your spleen. He didn't do it for his mom. He didnt want Zhu Jiu to waste her time in him bc he rlly could die young. Also he now more prone to acute heart disease. Acute meaning sudden and severe
But the mom is totally unhinged, like you know your son is hurt, he may even be dying and you're still denying…
In the novel, his mom made him fight for inheritance in his broken body. Like hes constantly on critical illness notice and constantly needing surgrey but his mom still wants him to work at the company ππ so rlly its toned down a lot
Yeah. I feel like Westerners really can't understand how the parents-children relationship are viewed by the society.…
And everyone thinks he left bc of his mom. No he didnt. I think YunShen is not useless or being a doormat like westerners claim. They can't and don't even try to understand the parent child relationship. YunShen here actually tries ro balance and find compromise with both sides which is rlly commendable

No matter what, she is still his mom who shared more than 20 years of bond with. The mom who he "shared spit" with. (A metaphor. Story of two drowning fishs who spit saliva to keep alive) plus the filial piety. He can't just denounce that relationship. Shes not a random stranger on the street he just met for fuck sake

I feel like Westerners couldn't understand why Chinese people act this way, but as Chinese I also can't understand why Americans do what they do. As a Chinese, I can't fathom why Westerners won't financially care for their parents or won't practice filial piety. I don't think YunShen did anything wrong
I love YS. He is a peacemaker who wants love and happiness to flow in his family and the hearts of everyone around…
But people still shouldn't be bashing YunShen and saying that is stupid or hes a doormat or hes useless. This is his MOM. Its a cultural thing. I know westerners especially find it hard to fathom but Chinese people grew up in it. Its different
People, please at least google the word *filial piety*. Its the least you could do since you are complaining so much and wondering why YunShen did what he did. Please search that word up before you go bashing YunShen again. PLEASE stop with the ethnocentrism. At least learn about filial piety before you go labelling YunShen as in the wrong and passive again
Theres this thing call filial piety. Its hard for me to explain. I think you should give it a google. But people seriously need to stop bashing characters bc of this.
Coming from an American yeah.... its definitely hard for you to understand. Ur culture's attitude about parents is vastly different from China.
