On When Destiny Brings the Demon Sep 16, 2025
OMG....this was one of the most romantic kissy dramas I have ever seen...and the kisses were real...not the usual awkward lips barely touching scenes that I usually see in Asian dramas. Arthur Chen & Wang Ying Lu really know how to convey their intimate moments without it looking fake or awkward. What can I say - like most of the consensus here: Eps 1 - 19 were amazing. When they had to fight he 8 palaces and the chief villain. The couple's relationship evolved slowly with distrust on Sima Jiao's part - he never met anyone that didn't want something from him - whether to kill him or get what he had to make them more powerful. She was like a pure fresh of air...from the modern world who only wanted to eat and be carefree....as if she was on vacation. She slowly worked herself into his heart and vice versa. Their love was so palpable and so real...their love story spanned so many lifetimes with their soul bond always able to find each other. The eps after 19 started to drag a bit....the amnesia trope was over done (sick of this) and I started to fast forward some of the eps because I was so sick of how the storyline was proceeding: the villain that wouldn't die easily and then had the audacity to pretend he was Ting Yan's stepfather in the mortal world (Qian Lu)....although I loved...loved him as the emperor in Love like the Galaxy; the annoying Feng Qi who caused so much trouble; the annoying other villain who took the body of poor orphan; the annoying little sister of Ruiling The ending felt rushed but I appreciated that they showed them reunited in modern times. I just wished they had a longer reunion episode. It was done really nicely too when they met up. Arthur Chen has the most beautiful face...it can show anger, pain, hurt, sadness, love, romance, dominance, softness, et...and what a beautiful smile whenever it appeared. Wang Ying Lu - I only know from "I am Nobody" and she was awesome in the 1st season (I haven't had a chance to see the 2nd season). She has the most expressive beautiful facial features that complement Arthur Chen's. I really loved these 2 together...so many loving moments and kisses! You will also find out what "dual cultivation" implies.... :D Overall it was a nice ride...I really needed an extra episode of them in the modern world! Also - when is Gao Han (the snake) going to get his own main character drama - this man is also so beautiful looking...he needs a main male lead ASAP!

Meguro Ren as Kiyoka was one of the hottest characters brought to life. He was stern yet so soft and gentle with Miyo. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him in the long blondish hair. I must have watched this movie multiple times...it's that good. I agree with some of the comments - it was way too short. I needed a Part 2. I ended up watching the anime version which was in 2 parts to see what I had missed in the live action version. It was a little different. I need more of the live action!

So, her so-called "Usuba family" neglected her her whole life, watching her being a servant, and the moment she…
Yeah...I didn't get that...even though Miyo's mom sealed her powers, they should have watched over her because she was an Usuba. They should have protected her with or without her powers.

But, but, who was the bad guy and why didn't they catch him?
At the end of the movie, you find out who the villain was...it was the emperor who died. He foreseen that if the Kudous (Kiyoka) pairs with a person (Miyo) with dream sight or "dream weaving" powers, it will signal the end of the royal family. So he wanted Kiyoka killed by the Grotesqueries that he unleashed.

OMG...I tried watching this and I fell asleep. The FL is really so meh...I don't really care too much about her so far. And Ryan Ding has been playing these type of characters too much...the aloof and supposedly uncaring ML. He needs to do something different. There is absolutely no chemistry between this couple. I tried really hard to stay awake but it was soo boring...

One more thing...I know everyone thinks that Li Hongyi and Chen Yi look so much alike. I would also like to add Liu Yu Ning to this group of look-alikes. They should do a drama where these 3 play brothers!! That would be awesome!!!

Title The Blood of Youth Spoiler
I watched this over again right after finishing Dashing Youth. It's only 12 yrs after but the characters have aged incredibly...yes...I know...Blood of Youth came first but it was hard to understand how the characters who are in their teens in Dashing Youth, 12 yrs later looked like old men. The ages didn't add up. They should have been in their 30's. I loved Blood of Youth when I first seen it and seeing it for the 2nd time made it more understandable after Dashing Youth. The one thing that pissed me off so much was how Prince Chi got away with murder before the end...you knew he was conspiring with Dark River to gain control of the crown...that's friggin treason & murder...but he was left to do his evil again and again. Even at the end he showed no remorse...it was always "poor me" and "nobody loved me". He took the easy way out which sucked too. His mom, Wen Jun, was just as pathetic as she was in Dashing Youth. She pissed me off more with being so weak and pathetic. She just accepted her fate instead of fighting it. Baili Dong Jun told her to her face that he blamed her for what happened to Ye Dingzhi in Dashing Youth and it didn't seem like her character grew much in Blood of Youth. She enabled Prince Chi in being the selfish, greedy pathetic character he was...just like his mom. I'm glad that the 4 ended up riding off to Prince Chuhe's Villa and will be having more adventures together. What people didn't see was show in Blood of Youth special where "OMG"!!! Tang Liang comes back. All the comments at the end was where is Tang Liang. So many people were disappointed that he didn't appear at the end of Blood of Youth. But good news people...he survived!!! Also....was so disappointed with Wuxin and how they totally underutilized his character! He would come and go and then spent most of his time as a zombie...I hated that arc. Hopefully we can see more of him in Blood of Youth 2!!!! We also need to see more of Prince Chen! We loved the character of Prince Langya in Dashing Youth and we need to see more of his son in the next sequel!!!

Can someone please tell me if the same actor plays Prince Ruojin and Prince Qing? When I look at these two, they look so different!

I'm on Ep 22, so I haven't finished with the drama yet. Am I the only one that thinks most of the guys in this drama are better looking than the women? I can't believe there will be a war launched because of Wen Jun. I agree with many of the other comments....the women characters kind of drag the drama down particularly in these types of wuxia dramas. The only one I really like so far is Baili Dong Jun's mom. I watched Blood of Youth awhile ago and have to constantly refer back to that cast to link it with the characters in this drama. And there are so many characters! I'm going to rewatch Blood of Youth after finishing this drama.

I'm so sad to read so many negative reviews for this drama which I was looking forward to watch. I have to admit I'm currently turned off to even begin it. One thing about Yangmi..I loved her in Eternal Love & Legend of Fuyao. What started to turn me off about her started in Novoland Pearl Eclipse. She was still playing the innocent ingenue type which kind of made me cringe. I had high hopes about this drama but haven't started watching yet. I will probably check it out eventually.

Title Joy of Life Season 2 Spoiler
This series will truly go down as one of the all-time cdrama masterpieces. Just phenomenal writing and amazing…
I think Season 1 was so much more interesting & memorable than Season 2. If I find myself falling asleep in some episodes, then it's not holding my interest which happened several times while watching this drama. The scholar exam and the Ep 36 were the best for me. I agree with you about Wan'er. Why that stupid anger? So what that her brother was nice to her...how about the fact that he was a terrible person and had no qualms about killing others. And if he could have, he would have killed the one she love in Fan Xian. Uncle Wuzhu only intervened and killed the brother because his directive has always been to protect Fan Xian. That was such a memorable scene in Season 1. Wan'er really pissed me off in that episode. She made up for it later by seeing him off. I'm hoping she helped Wuzhu recover from his injury and let go of the anger she has towards him in Season 3. The Ming episode was SOOO boring...Another couple of psychopaths to deal with. I need to see the Ming leader and his psycho mom dealt with in Season 3. I was so disappointed that only when we got to the last episode did the action get interesting and then it ended...argh! But it only proves how Fan Xian can talk himself out of things without resorting to violence. His interaction with the Grandmaster Ye was amazing! And the most awesome part of this interaction is how Grandmaster Ye healed FX's qi!!! FX is BACK!!!! I kept looking at how much time that was still left in Ep. 36 and I was like OMG....they are running out of time to give us more! Please! Don't make us wait too long for Season 3!!!!

Title Joy of Life Season 2 Spoiler
It's funny. I just read a s1 comment from someone who was disappointed that the drama didn't have enough clever…
Nice summary! I’m on Ep 33 today. I read that the E is also a grandmaster and his goal is to eliminate all the others so he can can absolute power….but that’s just talk. What do you think about WanEr’s anger in finding out Uncle Wuzhu killed her brother? Majority thinks she’s an idiot for her rage since her brother was a bad guy and Wuzhu’s main directive is to protect FX…so he eliminated the threat to FX. Anyway…I’m going back to watching the drama and then I will access how I felt overall.
