Interesting! Chen Lijun is an opera actress debuting in her first TV series and she plays a woman in the disguise of a man to become an official. Definitely interesting theme. She can't put herself in his shoes as she doesn't know yet that it was a two way crush. All she knows and thinks is that it was/is one-sided crush and Xu took advantage of knowing that and made her go through the novel with him and embarassed her. Also when she pointed out the differences from the other authors book regarding the male protagonist he was critical of her analysis of the other ml which bewildered her.
And that is also why she is going away- to reflect on herself and sort herself
He knew it was a two-way crush but whenever he tried to get close to telling her the truth (when she accidentally slipped several times) she would cover it up. She gave the impression to him that the crush was just a sweet memory for her and her book would have a similar ending. So he could never ascertain his position in her heart presently, hence couldn't come clean early on about the novel plagiarism issue. They had to go through this time and process to get there eventually.. Anyway this is my take on her reaction but appreciate that we all see and understand situations and things differently

She is angry because she thought by knowing and pretending to not know he was mocking her and enjoyed seeing her embarassed. But once she knows he wasn't mocking her at all she lowers her guard and allows him to enter her life.
Actually for her it's more than anger. Disappointment - that the Xu Huaisong whom she thought was a mature, gentle caring Huaze Lei turned out to be a demanding, scheming, brash and annoying Daoming Si Embarrassment- that he knew her innermost thoughts about him from the novel Ambiguity- about who he really was in real life Confusion- about her own feelings towards him now

You are tired at ep 9. Perhaps this drama isn't for you. Apparently in China, there are too few TV series to make money, and some may even result in losses. Platforms especially prefer long-running series because they can add more advertising, which can increase revenue. I saw comments on this page earlier that the parts that were shot in a certain old town had something to do with investors/tourism department. I still think its a good drama in terms of script, acting, soundtracks and production quality. Especially the bgm played at critical moments are very apt setting the atmosphere. The ML and FL take an extremely slow and cautious approach. That's how they are written in the novel and so is the script. It's meant to be a very slow-burn. The last 8 episodes were fantastic! All loose ends nicely tied with a very happy non-rushed ending 😀
