He know that he likes her, but he is thinking that he'll be a burden to Gu Yi as he can't express his feelings like others. He is not capable of love. Gu Yi was sad and angry at the same time hearing these things from him. Because she never felt that way. Also Liang Dai Wen should have given her an absolute words about his feelings... But in the contrary, he gave her thoughts full of vague words and that's why she got upset...

The two fell in love at first sight though ML was not aware because of his illness. After several encounters due to a problem of the FL they started live in under same roof.
