I know that some here don't like Yiyang , he wasn't in novel, and see him as useless character but I think he replace Yuyou to make ML jealous, because in novel it was Yuyou who was with FL at the restaurant and the niece happen to see them, and in that scene, the niece falls in love with him.

It's funny this last scene in ep 30, because in novel, it was Yuyou who having dinner with FL in restaurant and shi Yue happen to be here and she was like I must tell my uncle that this man is handsome and proactive lol she falls in love with Yuyou at this moment. In the drama, Yuyou was here too but as her boyfriend.

I read novel for drama as beautiful as you, you are right there is also a sad break up around the middle it's more towards the end, but it necessary for FL to understand some things. But it quit sad. It's also happy ending.
