I think if well done, I don't really mind most tropes. The biggest problem with any trope is if it's dragged out, it loses it's impact and becomes annoying. If resolved quickly or in a refreshing way, it can be interesting to watch or add a bit of drama and tension.

Independent main leads. Main leads that are not defined by the romantic relationship. Fully formed characters where the romance happens naturally and is just part of their journey.
I'm sorry I can't root for Song Han and Miao An Su when he nearly killed her on their wedding night because of…
When she said "I believe I can change him", I already expected some painful moments for her. She wouldn't easily leave him. She loves and pities him and he does get attached to her
Looks like more than anything else, he's very mentally unstable. From what we are shown in the drama, he basically…
I definitely agree with you. We would be bale to understand his character more, but that doesn't change the despicable things he did. His father was also a very horrible role model.
I loved the main couple. They are both individually impressive, but are best when they are together, because they complement each other so well and compensate for each others shortcomings. She's the brain and he's the brawn. He holds power and she holds money. He's impulsive and she's cautious. While they seem like opposites, they also share some very important qualities. They are both kind and loyal, but can be cold and ruthless when necessary. I also loved that they worked together and didn't hold anything back from each other. It has been a while since I liked a main couple this much.
The plot was interesting and well-paced, although admittedly the pace slowed down a bit for a few episodes starting from around episode 21/22. It picked up again towards the end of the drama and the ending was very satisfying.
Am I the only one that things Song Han becoming a villain makes literally no sense whatsoever?! i'm only on ep…
Looks like more than anything else, he's very mentally unstable. From what we are shown in the drama, he basically causes his parents death with the things he said to them. Rather that hate his brother, he's transferring his resentment to him. He feels like he has taken everything that should be his. Primarily the person he considered his mother and the position of the legitimate son. When his father revealed who his mother really is, his world was turned upside down. He went from a spoiled 18 year old to someone who poisoned his loving mother and his father dumped all of his hate for the Jiang family on him.
The problem and the reason why his turn doesn't make sense is because we are not shown the details of what has happened to him and it's also not exactly clear how long it took for him to mentally break like that.
FL’s father + uncle and ML’s father are all horrible 😭😭😭
Her father gets a redemption arc, but I still don't like him. He's a spineless coward. I'm sorry to say, but I also don't like the fact that her mother decided that killing herself was the best option. Sure, it gave her husband a lifelong sense of guilt, but at the same time she traumatized her daughter for life too. Just horrible parents all over the place in this drama.
If I could swap places with any TTEOTM character, it would be A-Mi coz she was born during the peaceful time after…
That sounds like fun. I'm glad they survived in the novel. I have been waiting for the full translation so I can finally read it. I wish there was an official english translation we can buy.
LSS and Qu Xuan Zi. He was such a good father to her and luckily so, because her biological father turned out to be evil and selfish.

All in all, I have really enjoyed this drama.
