I'm currently rewatching and i still don't get this

so lixun approached Zhu Yun knowing who her mother is from 6 years ago? or was it all a coincidence? I know lixun was lying when he said all that in prison while meeting her but still I wonder when he met her the first time, did he purposely start getting close to Zhu Yun because he loved her AND because he knew who her mother was or did he only remember that after meeting her mother in the base?
