They all died unnecessarily, kind of expected this since the script is really trashy. The only reason why I kept watching it till the end is because of the actors, their acting carried the trashy story of this drama.
Imperial perceptor du's character is such a waste, she have the potential of being a good ally of the emperor and the empress, especially how good her character was introduce and when she plead the empress to understand and communicate with the emperor despite her having lingering feelings for him, she could become one of the solid supporter of the emperor and be a good friend of the empress, but then her character seems like was swapped with the the prince, who I thought will become an enemy of the emperor for the throne. She became power hungry and vengeful for no reason –yes maybe because of her feelings for the emperor and how her identity was hidden, but out of all the people in the palace she knows him the most and for what they've been through together just to easily betray him for a power and to be recognized as the late Emperor’s daughter.
And everything is just doomed for her before she even knew her real identity, the moment the emperor told her that cangcang is the one and only empress he will have, she knows that she will never stand a chance for his love, neither him or the power(becoming empress) will ever go to her hand so rebellion is her only straw, lol. She's just too entitled to think of having a right for the throne even if she was a daughter of the late emperor as the throne already have its heir
They gave so much sweet scenes between the 2nd leads but gave us barely from the main leads?? I thought we will get it now since the misunderstanding between them has been cleared and now that the empress accepted her role as the Emperor’s wife and chose to stand with him
The hate on the fl is so unecessary especially if you really get her point of view or put yourself on her shoe. Yes she's immature at times, but their misunderstanding started because of the emperor, he deceived and lied to her from the very start. She doesn't know what's really happening, she just know only what the ML portrays infront of her. He refused to tell her everything, treats her poorly when she entered the palace, infact the fl has the capability of trusting him and stand with him if he will make her understand what's really happening, but what he only did is lie and hurt her again. The fl only have glimpses of the situation, knows only what her eyes saw and what her ear heard. Nobody shows or told her everything she needs to know, so she can widen her views. She was also forced into the marriage, assumed an unwanted duty and responsibilities in a short span of time, the emperor couldn't even trust her fully and acts to be heartless infront of her, how can she even handle those things that just went too fast.
And She was basically a spoiled princess of her father, so it's reasonable that she was too indenial of things that was too impossible and far from what she knows. I mean, would you expect her to turn her back on her father and want him be killed overnight? It's not that she will tolerate her father's wrong, but she's in the stages of processing everything. She's actually breaking inside and being indenial is her coping mechanism, everything on her life seems like a lie right now
I just really freaking hope I will be able to finish this drama and will be able to watch the finale. Cuz most of ren jia lun's drama is great but becoming painful near the end so I have to drop it, just like love of nirvana (I don't watch the last 3 episodes so I can convince myself that the leads live happily lol)
Is it just the subtitle? But I really love to hear it whenever he calls her "My empress" even in the middle of their argument. That was just the sweetest thing they had right now cuz everything is just too messy, lol
The tags are Prime Minister male lead? Is the second leading man a prime minister or the grand prince will become a prime minister? After all he's a spare, another son of the king who cannot inherit the throne so he could be one, lol
By watching this I never expected myself to fall on Yan Xiao and his smile, lol.
I'm on episode 21 and at this point I'm rooting for the love story of the princess and yan xiao, it's interesting how their story is an "enemies to lovers but they already have a lingering feelings to each other from the start" trope
This kind of genre is new to the eye. I mean it started as a heavy-serious-mature trope to light and comedic romance at the middle. The characters especially the leads personality turning to 180 degree is so unexpected for me. From green to red to green again, lol. I was also hasitant for haoming to have a second chance, and doesn't see any possible redemption that we could accept. But, turning his personality from being a smart, manipulative and dangerous ceo to comedic, shameful, loser character, overshadowed his past mistakes and manipulation. They made it that way, cuz that's probably one and only way for us and xu yan to forgive his red flag treatment. And it's effective, cuz everyone loves his pettiful sides. And I don't think there's anything wrong about them having a second chance, it's actually a good plot because if this is any other dramas they will proceed to divorce immediately. They started off as red flags, cuz they only saw each other as one's benefits. Though, xu yan really loves haoming, she still lied about everything and everything was built on lies. The separation part helped the both of them see the real side of each other, it humbled the both of them. Tough them a lesson for good and actually made their relationship more stronger. I love how haoming was very persistent to not proceed the divorce and made a very long hour effort to delay it. I really thought they actually got divorced but never. Which is a good time cuz that is a slap of the face of the workers who keeps on gossiping them.
I wished they a second wedding together, where xu Ryan's family is already invited especially her sister and grand who wants to witness her walk down the aisle:(
Please have more projects like you did before military. Cuz Korean actors these days after discharging from military is lowkey having a hiatus and still won't accept dramas for years. Like LJS, lol. That's why I'm wondering, if they really don't accept a project or they don't get offered like they used to cuz they are out of the limelight for so long
Have you watched him in The Good Bad Mother ? He blew me away in that role.
Yes I am! Since HDL I've always anticipate and watch his dramas, I'm actually the happiest person alive when he was announced to lead 18 again, lol. The Good Bad Mother is my most favorite drama of him, that drama really proves his versitality
I can't catch up to watch the latest episode everyday these past few days as I'm too busy with school work and also preparing for our upcoming exam. Episode 14 is the episode where I stopped, but I had some time this morning to continue watching the latest episodes and was shocked lol. I thought after everything was revealed they will get immediately divorce and the angst will start, never expected that this will have 'comedy' and most importantly I didn't expect that shen haoming will became like this... LOL, I mean the shen haoming I watched before was a reserved and quiet men, though I already expected him to be a manipulative and controlling businessman but didn't know he have this petty and shameful side. And I don't think they will get divorced soon, cuz he's always busy every the '8th' of the month. But, I'm enjoying this comedy lol. I was actually hasitant of his character at first, who didn't deserve a second chance. I'm giving him a benefit of the doubt, if he can truly redeem himself for xu yan and for us (the viewers).
Kind of sad here, cuz I may not continue to watch the new releases these upcoming weeks, cuz we're too hectic and full of schedule. I will probably be shocked again once I have a time to watch.
Shen haoming feels so off now. I know there's a redemption and regret period, but does he deserve a second chance? We know, both of them lied, both of them made a mistake. But, plotting this plan and leaving her in the edge yet wants her to stay cuz she's useful is kind of evil. Xu yan lied because she wants to be loved and cared while he lied cuz she's easily to control, manipulate and useful. From the start he never truly show a genuine love for her, just an act for to fell in his trap. Also way the he treat other people is off too, cuz once it's useless he will just leave it to the ground, he only sees people by its usefulness to him and their business. And as a father why would he even let his child grew up and recognize him only as his brother, he also kind of neglect him that's why he's craving for an attention.I wonder how they will execute his redemption and character development. Or they will just show a valid side of his backstory, lol
She portray a character who was deprived from love and care. Carry so much wounds and pains growing up caused by her parents. That's why most of the time she's emotionless, not the zhao lusi we're used to (always sweet-cheeky cheerful looking) this time she's an intelligent career woman, with pride and ambition. She acts maturely and as a wife of a rich man the way she walks, the way she talks, the way she express her emotion, the way she style herself suits her character. She actually portrays it really good.
She just look different here cuz she lost so much weight. It's a new character she unlock after years of cutesy characters she portray
I really did think she should be honest with him but he’s saying to her to keep it to yourself omg
Ikr. He's such an intelligent businessman and probably will do everything to gain power. Why xu yan can't see those clue, those words is already enough for us to understand that he knows everything
And everything is just doomed for her before she even knew her real identity, the moment the emperor told her that cangcang is the one and only empress he will have, she knows that she will never stand a chance for his love, neither him or the power(becoming empress) will ever go to her hand so rebellion is her only straw, lol.
