IMO, No 1. too petty. Japanese culture had been long influenced by China. since ancient time. In Taiga drama or Japan fantasy drama, I often see the costume, women hairstyle, body language/mannerism, similar with China's ancient culture, or Taoism or Bhuddism. China-Korea-Japan, they shared same culture. For political reason, I understand the severity of relationship between china and Japan.
Is china also feel instigated by South Korea? If I am not mistaken, 1 or 2 years ago, a fantasy sageuk unfortunately got terminated after 1 or 2 eps due to media frenzy about similarity costume with China's culture. They said it's not Korea but China.

But I kinda understand the heavy makeup (they probably put suncreen too). It's to protect skin from the harshness of lighting. common dorama almost never reach 60mins/eps, they usually span for 40-45mins
1hr to 1.5hr duration often applied only on pilot episode (1st eps) or the ending, or one shot special drama.
Taiga drama may running for 50-60 mins.
nowadays, it's not hard to find 25-35 mins dorama. but they are not minidrama.
I think only Asadora (morning drama) serves as minidrama.

meanwhile..their counterpart, KDrama, never fails to present 1hr drama...

FL in FNOS is wise. By the time she gets the truth from other POV, her resentment towards ML is vanished quickly. She grasp s the fact that everything had happened is just misunderstanding.
I have seen some FLs in dramaland refuse to accept the bitter truth, only believe what's before her eyes or something she wanna believe. Annoying during the whole shows, except for the last episode.

There is indeed a lot of miss-comm between Chu xuanji /FL and Si feng /ML, especially in the early 20eps because FL literally is not sensible due to lack of senses. Please noted that she is not retard, her IQ is normal, she is just naivete to the max. It's also understandable since they were still 16 of age. their misunderstanding is often hilarious.
FL is not annoying and not Mary Sue type too. ML is the most vulnerable here because he is so damn in love with FL. (I can't count how many times author of novel tortures him both physically and mentally) 🤣
Chu xuanji is outspoken and not easily sway by people or rumor (thing that often we find in mostly FL that makes them annoying). not hesitate to find the truth.
Si Feng is the most caring person ever, but often reluctant to spit the words, because he thinks a lot.
After the misunderstanding cleared when they are both mature, they really going strong as a couple and bestfriend.
The hateful misunderstanding comes from the elders of 4 sectarians. As if they lose their brain for sometime. You don't wanna see how many sacrifices and blood come from Si Feng.
I think so far, only in LaR where FL and ML really possess a strong bond despite many misunderstanding and mishap. That bond bring us together to watch them from the start till the end.
