Title Blossom
If they already used guns once why stop and use swords again and then crossbows come in against swords, but yeah,…
in the drama, it was still in Ming dynasty. Such handgun was more like a prized possession. After Ming lost to Qing, it led them to collapse. Qing dynasty survived for hundred years. In the late Qing dynasty, they used handguns heavily for combatant or military purpose. Smuggling the firearms and handguns happened too. And those guns were bought from Westerner. Even though China had used gunpowder since ancient time as warfare, they didn't have technology to make handguns. That's why Qing easily fell into western colonies and Japan (who already modernized military). As far I know, initially started by Tang's trading effort, later in Ming dynasty, international trading also flourished. When we saw glasses or sunglasses in C drama costume and K-drama sageuk, that's meant westerners already penetrated the market in far east. They mostly came by the ship. When those handguns replaced the traditional weaponry (swords, saber, spear) we could say bye bye to ancient times hence welcomed the modern times. (that's why I don't really watch Ming related costume drama and avoid Qing costume drama - exception made for Blossom and Pearl Princess XD )
